This forum is friggin' boring, so I just thought I'd throw a little social thread out there to see if anyone else out there loves the West Coast as much as I do.
I've lived my entire life in the state of California. I started out in Northern California in the Penninsula and have since moved down to Southern California in rockin' San Diego.
Things I love about California:
- Well shit...obviously I LOVE the weather. It's really never too cold, and sunny days are always ahead.
- The diversity of the people. I've met so many different people in my life from all kinds of backgrounds and it's usually a pleasure to meet them.
- Only being a decent drive away from Las Vegas.
- Eye candy! Oh there's plenty here in SoCal...and I definitely love it.
- The Good 'ol California Punk/Ska scene. Ok, so a good portion of this sucked ass, but at the same time there was a rare quality that I discovered in this scene, and I had some great times.
- Alcatraz...Very cool place to visit.
- Magic Mountain...'nuff said.
- General Courtesy that Bay Area people usually exert to strangers. Of course that's just my own opinion, but I think people are pretty cool up back in my home area.
- Hitting up the Oakland Coliseum for an A's game with my family/friends. Those are always good times.
And of course...
- Oh the lovely lovely California bud. How I love thee! Socal, Norcal...shit you can't go wrong, unless you cross the TJ border.
So what makes the Golden State, or any part of the west so special to you?
-El Jefe.

I moved to New York City six months ago from San Francisco's Mission District. There is so much I miss (maybe too much). Things I love:
*the fog!
*flip flops (casual clothes for that matter)
*smoking pot outside at Zeitgeist
*the ultracool vibe, bartenders and music at The Top
*my alma mater, UC Santa Barbara
*watching the sun come out at the End Up
*driving over highway 17 to Santa Cruz
*listening to funky house music at parties at Kelly's Mission Rock
*BBQs
*Haight Street (and in particular Murio's WonderBAR)
gaaaaah! Think it's time to move back?

I love Cali because the following things are here:
-El Jefe
-Lil' C
-ZeroHawk
-JDSD
-The Duce
-SunE
-Pixiegirl
-Paradigm
-Lucas
-Leapordhead
-Cee
-Miss Bliss
-Dakeva (if only for a little while longer)
-Phil
-heroLoco
-Sweetpea
-Vortex
and yes even the muffin man.
-BellababE to! ;)

Things I treasure:
- My friends
- The climate
- the beach. I can't live without the ocean.
- The people(for the most part)
- The fact that there is so much to do. California is the only place where you can snowboard in great snow.(i.e. Tahoe, Mammoth) and Surf the continental US's best waves. Not to mention the theme parks, nightclubs, National Parks, and other beautiful areas to enjoy nature. California seems to attract a lot of smart and talented people as well.

Hey! atrelle...i go to UCSB! its gorgeous here.
I love the weather the beach, the people, the vibe, the parites, the closeness to mexico ;) . All of my family is here, and i am so happy and content, i never wanna leave.

I live in SD my whole life as well...currently a junior at USD. Live in El Cajon though, so I have a crappy commute everyday...
I love the weather first and formost. Beautiful is the only word.
Just a little drive to mexico, las vegas and LA. Between those three cities there is really no where else I need to go. A little farther and you hit Mammoth.
Best part about san diego though...located near those towns, but then you have the desert to off road on, the mountains to snowboard, the forest and nature to walk through, the beach to surf at, the bay to relax in front...all less then 2 hours away! You can do anything you want, and still drive home by night.
Major sports teams, minor sports teams, any kind of auto racing, bike racing...the car scene is big here, and I never stop loving the muscle car cruises...and I love seeing a big gang of crotch rockets cruise the freeway busting out some wheelies and such.
There always seems to be something going on, and the people down here are great. A little more open minded since we live in cali, so minorites mixing is not so weird (my relatives in Chicago were shocked when they heard I go places with my black/asian etc friends...they said it just doesnt happen there).
Location, location, location...that's the biggest reason. Plus, whenever you visit somewhere you just tell the chicks you're from cali and they automatically fall in love with you :D

Hey...the rest of you san diegans...you guys gonna go to Sasha and Digweed on May 3rd @ Sports Arena?
I just found out the date...just gotta save up some money...

  • Of course the climate! our summers are nice and dry, none of that east coast humidity shit, and if you live closer to the coast they aren't too hot neither... and then winters are always mild of course.
  • The way just everything goes, at least in the Bay area. Even conservative people don't seem to be that conservative, especially as regards appearance, etc. I have dark purple hair and my suit-wearing boss never bats an eye. (of course the fact that I work in higher education and not in industry or business may have something to do with this)
  • Highways that make sense (broad enough, lanes you can see, no toll roads etc). There's something about the car and the California spirit, I just can't describe it.
  • Redwood trees and coastal fog (both the real stuff, and the beer heh).
  • The way you can go from beaches to mountains in only a few hours' drive.
  • Being some kind of exotic animal when I go to Canada. :D
  • Napa. Grapes. Nuff said. :)

I'm the worlds biggest california fan. I refuse to goto other states for meet ups because I cant stand to be away from cali for more than 1-2 days.
1. Best weed in the nation. Something about california weed that makes it special from everyone else.
2. SoCal/NorCal BLers are probably the dopest group of friends in the planet.
3. So many different things to do! Disneyland, Knotts, Block, parties, theaters...
4. I live inbetween the two greatest cities ever: LA and SD
5. The weather is so nice that I often sit in my house without a shirt
6. Best drugs seem to come here
7. fucking 8 lane highways!
8. In N Out, Del Taco, drive through mexican restraunts, and yoshinoya
9. The Real California Cheese
10. Frisco in the summer
11. Lax Cops (better than in most states)
12. did I mention the cheese?
13. So many wonderful ethnic cultures and their dope ass food! :)
14. THE FUCKING BEACH! Always nice waves and always a chill beach crowd.
15. Prettiest girls in the world live in Cali.
Nuff said :0

I don't live on the WC, but I'm close enough that I get to visit every now and then. I'll probably be moving to SD next summer, for these reasons:
-weather is perfect nearly all the time (I live in AZ)
-everything seems more chill in SD
-tons more shit to do
-the girls are FOINE
-there's a beach, can't forget the beach
-Chargers and Padres!!
I can't wait to move...

As I probably will be doing periodically, I'm gonna add more things.
- JAMBA JUICE BABY!
- A desert sunrise...absolutely magnificent, especially if you're tripping!
- Daily direct flights to Hawai'i. Fuck yeah!
- Tailgating for a 49ers game.
- Pebble Beach Golf and the 17 mile drive.
- Monterey Bay Aquarium.
- Crossing the Golden Gate to Sausilito. :)
Jefe.

Me too! I gotta add more!
- 5 fw (takes you anywhere worth going in the world ;)
- California is one of the only places where you can get an avocado sandwhich, omlette, or burger!
- Good Day LA in the mornings :)
- Catalina and the awesome scuba sites
- We have the very first taco bell
- Happy cows come from California
- The most beautiful sunsets!
- EARTHQUAKES RULE WHEN THEIR SMALL AND NON-DANGEROUS! (like the lil 4.0's or less)
- Hollywood walk of fame (anthony hopkins once made me trip)
Evan

Wow i just moved here, and so far i can't seem to find something good about san diego, besides mexico! Maybe i'm just visting the wrong places, but then again. I don't know anyone here, so i don't where to go! Any sujtions?!?!?!
.:CLJ:.

well depending on how old you are, there are some great places to go:
-Pacific Beach (clubs/bars for 21+)
-Mission Beach (same thing)
-Belmont Park
-Del Mar Fairgrounds, or the city of Del Mar (more bars)
-Solana Beach
-Gaslamp Quarter
-SDSU parties
-Julian for some camping (about an hour east on the 8 fwy)
-if you like shopping, Fashion Valley Mall, University Town Center, Mission Valley Mall.
-I suppose Club Elements for some trance/house/jungle depending on the night.
-Carlsbad (20 mins north on the 5)
-Oceanside (25 mins north on the 5)
those are just some suggestions.

I moved out here from Minnesota a few years ago so, off the top of my head....
I love :
1) that it rained only about five times this past year.
2) there is no wintertime salt on the roads to rust my car.

Born and raised So. Cal, but finished up college good "ol Chico and lived in Sacramento for 1 year....
****Nor Cal Vs. So. Cal****
Nor Cal
1. better snowboarding
2. nicer peeps
3. better parties
4. shitty weather
5. not very diverse
6. no shopping
7. not as many jobs
8. Tahoe
9. Sanfran
10. better scenery- if you're the outdoorsy type
So. cal
1. the beach
2. can't beat the weather
3. girls are bitches, but better looking, but

4. everyone thinks their shit don't stink
5. Disneyland and Magic Mountain
6. MUCH better clubs

Oh ya, I forgot to add, I lived in Lousville KY for a year- and it was the worst fucking place I could ever imagine living my whole life- i got over it real fast....sorry to anyone from KY ;)
