...and for summer *officially* starting (at least in my book).

^whoa, how long did it sting for? how long did it take for him to remove it, and what did he use to remove it? water isn't enough, right?

i've always wondered about the aftermath of this sort of thing.

Thats right. Laugh. Go ahead, get a good laugh out of it. (*checks to see how much spray is left in the can*)

It was one of the duty-issue type sprays like a cop would carry, except for a flip-up top to keep you from accidentally depressing the trigger. The flip-top lid isn't like whats on, say, a shampoo bottle. You slide your finger under it and it lifts freely... doesn't do much aside from preventing you from pressing downward on the trigger by accident.

Anyway... I was in my car about to get out and walk into my office. I had some pain tablets (aspiring or aleve or something) that I threw in my pocket as I had a mild headache. One got wedged under the flip-up thing and i tried to work it out. The trigger was was more sensitive than I thought, and I hosed the driver's side window and splattered the shit out the left side of my face.

It burned for a couple hours, but my eyes kinda swelled up and I couldn't get my contacts out for a while (suckage).

But yeah, water is a bad idea. It will just spread the oil around. I had a couple "sudecon" wipes in the car meant for that sort of thing.

It stopped the burning on my face in 10-15 minutes (or at least toned it, way, way, way down). My eyes hurt for what seemed like forever, even after the burning subsided. It felt like I'd been punched in the eye later that day.

If anyone was wondering, yes, Fox Labs makes a fine pepper spray.

Nothing, but I haven't frowned too much today either... that's plenty good enough for me. Wish I was as naive/ignorant as I used to be about life & human nature... ignorance really is bliss.

If someone saw me accidentally hose myself in the face with pepper spray and sat there laughing, I'd find the damn can and they'd be posting about getting sprayed too. ;)

Fox Labs is pretty good, and reliable. If you are going to get something like that, spend the few extra dollars and get a good one (you may really need it one day). Try it once to watch how it sprays, and replace it every 2 years or after you use it.. don't want to be caught with an empty can. You can get non-weaponized ones to just play with and get used to.

Don't be fooled by the products with the crazy "XX% pepper spray! MAX LEGAL CONTENT!" written all over it in big red print. A lot of them are trash and would be hard to hit someone with, or sputter or whatever. Beyond a certain point, it really doesn't do you all that much good to keep making it stronger - the shit hurts like a motherfucker as it is. The Fox Labs stuff is 5.3million SHU, and really, really, really hot record-holding peppers never get over something like 1 million (and they are not common). Habaneros get to be something 375,000.

I don't know about the foam sprays. I inhaled a ... not insignificant amount of this stuff and it sucked ass. I don't know if you'd get that with the foams, and you'd definitely want to make it hard for someone to breathe so they can't chase you.

I'm going to try an avoid any further self-tests though. :)

I would buy some Sudecon decontamination wipes, or some other brand that does the same thing. Trust me on that one. You don't want to have to hold your eyes under a water faucet for half an hour in agony.
