What is your opinion on time?

Its as obvious and indisputable as 2+2=4.
^ Depending on the circumstances sometimes 2+2 does not equal 4. And for further clarification... time is a unit of measure nothing more. The only thing that exists is what is happening right now (if you want to say that believing in the moment means I believe in time, by all means do so)

Perhaps it is more accurate for me to explain that there is no past, and there is no future.

ts as obvious and indisputable as 2+2=4.

It serves a function BUT it is a mutable and destructible function that cannot be relied upon from one minute to the next !
It only exists as numbers , they only make sense as long as the physical parameters remain stable, anyone guarantee this ? You only ever exist NOW!
What time is that then ? NOW !! + NOW + NOW = NOW Not 4;)

^ Yes, its all about controlling the now imo. That's just my way of putting it, but it stops the thoughts from racing.

My opinion on time? Having mulled it over, I would say, generally speaking, that I'm for it. What an odd thing to ask...

I'm going to paraphrase Augustine of Hippo, whose personal observation of time is as valid now as it was 1500 years ago: If you don't ask me what time is, I know. If you do ask, I don't know.

Firstly, yes 2+2 ALWAYS = 4. If it didn't, then math would be useless. Secondly, time is a dimension that is measured. Its just like taking a ruler to something and determining that it's 10cm high, but with a clock in place of the ruler.

Sure, centimeters and seconds are human inventions used to measure these things, but the space and time that they take up exist. This isn't my opinion, this is scientific fact.

Threads like these make me laugh, everyone comes up with all these theories and somehow it reaches 3 pages...when time is just time. Its just an idea created by humans.

time is relative
in that when i see my relatives, time seems to stand still and never end

Man...everyone should know "time" is an idea invented by humans. If you don't, you're either dumb or uneducated. I remember being TAUGHT that time is a human measurement when I was like nine! (Yes, I know, I just referred to time. All I'm saying is it is a human idea...) It's like...my name is also an "idea". That set of words isn't branded into my skin. But it is real on a human level sure; that's exactly it- on a verbal level, but not in physical reality. In other words, nature doesn't give a damn about time.

If you believe in the many worlds theory, space can actually exist without time, as our consciousness could be the only moving pieces of an otherwise completely motionless reality. time would simply be a reference number for a point on a line, and we would jump between those points. :)

i was impressed by this

The Fabric of the Cosmos: Space, Time, and the Texture of Reality (2004) is the second book on theoretical physics, cosmology and string theory written by Brian Greene

Part 2: Time and Experience

Part two begins by addressing the issue that time is a very familiar concept, yet it is one of humanity's least understood concepts.

Chapter five, The Frozen River, deals with the question, "Does time flow?" One of the key points in this chapter deals with special relativity. Observers moving relative to each other have different conceptions of what exists at a given moment, and hence they have different conceptions of reality. The conclusion is that time does not flow, as all things simultaneously exist at the same time.
if space is infinite, the relativity of simultaneity implies that all of time exists simultaneously
