ok so it started with these bumps on the picture below on the crease of my elbow. it was itching like crazy. next morning i got a couple on the other side of arm when i woke in the morning. throughout that next day after initial discovery they appeared on the side of my leg and one on my belly. then it finally progressed to two on my johnson.

now the elbow is the only one that continually itches very annoyingly, i'm trying not to scratch it. but all of them have itched periodically. the elbow where it started is the worst tho.

i'm thinking its either something random, an std, or an infection i got from the beach. i got a cut on the same arm of my elbow near my palm while at the beach, and was pretty negligent about healing it aside from washing generally in teh shower. the last time i had sex was ~1month ago. i got tested at planned parenthood but for some reason they are not calling me with my results, i tried calling them about it and left a message.

what does it look like??? i'm pretty worried its a std :( but i mean it could be allergy or heat rash, its been really hot here in cali recently. sitting in boxers with windows open will still have u sweating, and i have no ac.
the elbow is the biggest collection and it itches the worst

i am going to the derm on monday, i'm hoping he can clear it up for me but maybe BL'er has seen this before

Doesn't look too bad. Is there poison ivy/oak/sumac in your area? How long ago did it start? 4 days or so? Is the rash continuing to spread in the places where it already is, or is it restricted to the initial bumps?

It looks to me like an allergic reaction caused by direct skin contact with some allergen. Wash your clothes, bedsheets, towels, and anything that may have the allergen still on it. Go get some anti-histamine/cortisone cream to put on it. If the bumps open up and weep be sure to keep them disinfected.

it seems to be continuing to spread throughout my whole body

more spots are appearing on my stomach and legs

Ah I forgot to say..if it is from a plant the oil will be concentrated where the rash is the worst, and if you scratch it you get the oil on your fingers and can then spread it to other parts spreading the rash. You can use rubbing alcohol dabbed on a paper towel to swab over it and remove the oil, then rinse with water.

I'm also assuming other than the rash you are feeling normal, and in good health? Anyways, get some cream it will help with the symptoms.

yea i haven't noticed anything else

i'll try the rubbing alcohol thing later

thanks for the help

Funny... they look like chicken pox from this angle.

However, since you say it could be a heat rash from the heat, that might be what it is. How often are your elbows on the table while typing on the computer?

I doubt it's an STD; symptoms of those tend to stay around the point of contact.

Keep cool, OP. Try going outside for the day and sit under a tree to cool down. Staying inside is generally hotter than outside, since the hot air gathers in the room.

Yea it could also very well be a heat rash, but the fact that it keep popping up in different places day after day is odd. Heat rash usually comes all at once, and the bumps themselves/spaces between the bumps are often smaller with more reddening of the skin in between. I've also seen certain insects/caterpillars leave similar rashes behind. NP OP, I hope it goes away and stop bugging you! I am terribly allergic to poison ivy, and I hate itching!!

This is actually not the case with Poison Oak (or Poison Ivy or Poison Sumac, but Poison Oak is what you'll find on the West Coast)--a few hours following exposure (which tends to coincide with appearance of the rash), the urishiol will no longer spread by skin-to-skin contact (and indeed, the rash will out-endure metabolism of the oil). Now, you can reinfect yourself if you repeatedly touch clothing that was exposed.

I'd see a doctor--even if it is 'just' poison oak, the topical or central steroids that they'll dispense are worlds more effective than any over-the-counter remedy.

Ah, that is good to know..I didn't know the oils has such a short active duration on the skin. I have just always rubbed rubbing alcohol all over my legs/arms, and anything else that could have come in contact when I think that I may have come into contact with some poison ivy(and of course wash all clothes...towels and bedsheets too if I actually get a rash). This always seems to work really well for me.

It is more that the oils embed within the skin rather than having a very short active duration. Thus, in the first few hours following appearance of the rash, it is still useful to apply rubbing alcohol to affected areas, to remove remaining urishiol, to reduce the intensity of the rash as it develops (it is also this delay in the appearance of the rash that creates the illusion of oils "spreading").

you guys were right, its poison ivy

talkin with the doc i realized i got it walking thru a foresty area to the beach

got a shot + cream to get rid of it and its dissapearing

^ I guess that's how they keep out intruders to the beach when the beach isn't open to the public. :P

Glad to hear you've gotten it taken care of and that it's disappearing. I'm gonna close this for now. If you would like to give an update later, have either me or addictivepersona re-open the thread. Good luck!
