What is there to do in Paris?

French is a difficult language. Le Français est une langue difficile, et je suis Français, donc je sais de quoi je parle, lol.

haha I guess practice makes perfect. its hard to practice though when you live in california, and are an engineering major. been out of french class for a long while but i still try to keep up with it weekly.

J'ai regardé une interveiw avec bradley cooper. il parle français parfait. très impressionant

French is a difficult language, and my trouble is that while I can speak French OK, I can't understand it when others speak it back to me.

I remember having to recharge my metro card, and so I was standing in line thinking, "how am I going to say that I need my card recharged?" It came to me, and the words came out beautifully. I was so impressed with myself, and then the woman spoke back to me, and I froze... LOL

Approximately 50% of the english language borrows to the french one. "I need my card recharged"? = "Rechargez ma carte s'il vous plait". See? Easy. But I agree, a lot of rules in french grammar and orthography (grammaire et orthographe, see again?) make no sense whatsoever.

Here's something fun to do in Paris:

meet loulou reed and discuss Godard.

I have the same problem. Native speakers need to understand how to speak slow and deliberately to new speakers (debutantes), rather than quick and slangy.

Thanks for the tips y'all helped me overload my senses with delicious hash, chartuze, pastries wine and bread. The memory doesn't even seem real!
