Sorry to be such a killjoy, but unfortunately, only thing that makes anyone of us happy, is different brain chemicals and brain reward system. Most important one being dopamine. What also does not make it too easy for us humans is that our reward center is designed so that we can't get same amount of joy doing same things again and again. And that means, that after you have done any experience (like travelling to exotic country) or felt any feeling/emotion (like falling in love), next time will not give you as much joy as the first one. And more you do, less you feel.
You can boost your dopamines or other brain chemicals in many ways like change, sex, travelling, relationships, sports and many many more. But those are always just temporary things and like I said, every time you boost your reward center/chemicals experiencing some of these things, you actually will make it harder for yourself next time. And bigger the boost/experience, less you feel with next boost/experience. Sad, isn't it?
Some say that happiness is a choice. That's false. We can fake it, but you can't just decide to experience genuine happiness. Faking might work for some people and for some time, but usually it doesn't end up well. One thing you can do, is decide to accept that it is what it is and make the best of it, but at least for me accepting sounds little bit like giving up and not necessarily the best way to live your life. But on the other hand, I have no idea what is.
