What is the strongest sedative of the antihistamines?

I don't know if dox is available in over the counter preparations here anymore. Like benny said, the label on nyquil says dox on the web, but when I bought it a few months ago the active ingredient is dph. They have a newer product, zzzquil which also is dph. :(

I recently picked up some nyquil with dox, but that was a few cities away from SF. I'm really curious if it's a regional or municipality thing. I don't understand why it would really matter, I've never heard of dox being dangerous nor have I heard it being abused by anyone but the most desperate of people.

It turns out there are more available here than I thought. I can get promethazine and doxylamine pills (200) per bottle for a very good price. Obviously I need a sleep aid; only thing working for me are benzos and that's not what I want to use every night. I'm not after some deliriant that'll mess me up if I take crazy amounts, those dumb days are long past me no.

But, would promethazine or doxylamine be useful for anxiety at all? I'm using etiz too much and I'd like to use something less habit forming.

I would go with doxylamine rather then promethazine because promethazine can cause palpitations in high doses, not great for anxiety.lol
However, promethazine is a fantastic opiate potentiator so it could be a personal choice sort of thing.
If you can see a doctor then you should be able to get some hydroxyzine, its a first gen anti-hist and is classed as a sedative-hypnotic with good anxiolytic effects, plus its a damn good opiate potentiator aswell.
Also hydroxyzine isnt considered a drug of abuse so most docs should be happy to script it.
Btw, mirtazapine isnt a combination-type med, its one chemical that acts as a strong anti-histamine with a host of effects at other receptors which add to its sedative effects and give it its anxiolytic and anti-depressant effects.

I wonder if the appetite-enhancing effects were an accident or by design? 'Cause I have to say, I'd rather not have that effect, as I eat like a hog around an hour after I take the thing.

Well, that hydroxyzine sounds useful for sure. I'll have to bring it up with my doctor. Oh yeah, I went ahead and brought some doxylamine (somebody said they're as effective as barbiturates for sedation, and that sounds perfect). A decent sleep aid is really useful to me right now; I'm taking 30 mg mirtazipine, 60 mg amitryptaline, and 7 robaxin pills to help me sleep, and even after that cocktail it can take me a good 1 and a half hours to sleep.

Thats quite a combo!lol
Mirtazapines appetite enhancing effects are linked to its anti-emetic effects which are mediated through antagonism of chemo-receptors (i believe.lol).
