I am going through so many different pills every week but nothing even makes me groggy. Xanax, Klonopins, Sonata, Dalmane, Prosom, Ambien, Ambien CR. I did 140mg insuf of Sonata last night for the first time I nothing happened. I was on benzos and ambien from 2002-2011. Then off everything. Well my insomnia never left but it is effecting my relationship. I finally have a psychiatrist. But everything he is writing is not working. He will write 5 days, or a weeks, supply. I don't know what to suggest.

Halcion? I heard it was good.

Honestly I may hire an Amazonian Pygmy to follow me around with a blow dart to knock me out.

Please help. I am thinking about suicide. I stay up 2-5 days at a time. Tried Sleep Reduction Therapy, my Dad is a Dr. PHD Psychologist. He can't help me. I am 43, 6'2" 230 lbs. Can't exercise, had knee surgery last week from too much exercise. Yeah.

My favorite for insomnia was always 200-400mg of seroquel. Sorequel always put me out and was never groggy the next day. Also back in my cocaine days I could poo a seroquel while being wired and it would still knock me out. It cancels out cocaine somehow...But yeah seroquel.

Agree with seroquel/quetiapine. Nothing's knocked me out as quick as that shit before... Hate using it as it makes me feel like shit the next day but I do resort to them once a month or so.

Seroquel made me too groggy the next morning and lethargic through the day. Mirtazapine (remeron) works well for me, hits fast, knocks me out and I feel fine when I wake up.

It never made me groggy the next day but maybe that was because I was also taking a high dose of cymbalta in the morning at the time.

Seroquel is quite good for insomnia, but it stops working for some people after they've been on it for a while. After having tried both, though, I would have to say that Zyprexa is even better than Seroquel for treating insomnia, if you don't mind moderate to extreme weight gain.

ZYPREXA hands down.. it's a schizo med but, its side effect is extreme drowsiness to the point where you can't even wake up the next day without feeling so tired. took it in 11th grade, crazy. and it was the minimum dosage as well.

temazepam is a nice mild one, definitely will sleep well on it.

Serequol is a schizophrenia medication too isn't it?

Chloral hydrate is probably still one of the strongest sleep aids you can get just be careful if you do end up getting any. That's the stuff that helped kill Anna Nicole smith because she drank and took other drugs with it all the time. It's a nasty tasting red liquid they gave it to us in detox to knock us out and dam it worked good.
Zopiclone is another fairly good sleep med but fairly addictive if used on a regular basis.

It sounds like you've been through most of the usual prescription sleep drugs out there. Chloral hydrate is a real old-school drug and carries all the risks of addiction and overdose that the other old school ones do (think secobarbital, pentobarbital and the other barbiturate hypnotics).

That being said, Seconal is an old-school barbiturate that may work.

There are other, more powerful hypnotic benzos out there as well (temazepam/Restoril comes to mind).

The rules of our site prohibit "drug recommendation" so this thread is right on that line. Your best bet is to discuss with your new psychiatrist all the meds you've taken and all the other information you've given us in this thread. There are other drugs out there (Seroquel, which is an antipsychotic and comes with a whole group of possible side effects, some of which are pretty nasty) and the barbiturates/chloral hydrate and other "vintage" hypnotics. Many of these drugs are no longer on the market and/or are hard to find at a regular pharmacy.

Be honest with your doctor and good luck. :)

I've been using Seroquel for 10 years, not at a therapeutic dose, but only 25 mg. It's the lowest amount possible. AT that dose it can be taken for sleep purposes only…. and not increased for axis 1 type disorders. It's not addictive. The typical sleep meds don't work at all for me, but really depend on the individual…

quetiapine can knock you out withitn an hour of taking it. but dose depends on tolerance. Also nitrazepam if you don't have a benzo tolerance.

im not sure but I know that meth is legal with a prescription and I kinda can't believe it but it's true

Obviously if you can't sleep well after trying so many medications its either time to cut back so the medications start working again or seek an alternate solution to the problem.
