Hello every one
What is the best way to cotrol heart beat when on stims ,
beta blockers, alfa blockers , ace .. ,
and the way of using them , how do they work, timing of using them?
every day , when needed etc..

If your actually noticing your heart beat on stimulants enough that you actually feel the need to try and control it then I think there could very well be a more serious underlying issue and perhaps you shouldnt be taking them anyways instead of looking for something to mask it with.

Of course stimulants speed up your pulse rate but often it dosent cause discomfort enough to stop and take notice of it, when I was still healthy and using there were only a few ocassions where I had noticed irregular heart and fast pulse and that was only when I had mixed substances, or overdosed or had bad effects.

Eventually when I developed more serious health and heart problems then my heart symptoms became evident more of a noticible issue so I think you should get a check up before you continue using.

Unlucky , i understand what you mean, it is not that serious , thank you for your advice anyway and i wish you a good health.
When on normal stims(adderal, ritalin) this is not been an issue, but when on some recreatinal use of other meds some times this happens, i think the side effect.
But it is strange that this has never been an issue or am i missing a thread

clonidine

stims = fight/flight (sympathetic nervous system)
clonidine = rest/repose (parasympathetic nervous system)

those two systems work with eachother to establish a balance. taking a stimulant tilts the system towards fight/flight, which is the source of your problems, but taking a depressant or beta-blocker like clonidine will help tilt it back towards rest/repose

Clonidine isn't a beta blocker, its an alpha-2 agonist, the A2 receptor is an autoreceptor, so agonists act to lessen production/release of noradrenaline.

I want to get back on this stuff myself, it worked better than anything else for hyperstimulation issues.

I thought that methylphenidate and clonidine were contraindicated, and if so, I would assume that clonidine should also not be taken with cocaine.

Beta-blockers alone are containdicated for amphetamine toxicity. The danger of amphetamine toxicity isn't due to increased heart rate; rather, it's due to vasoconstriction.

Action at the alpha-adrenergic receptors leads to peripheral vasoconstriction which includes constriction of the coronary arteries (the arteries that feed the heart with its own blood supply). This alone can produce cardiac ischemia (insufficient oxygen supply to the heart tissue). Combine this with elevated heart rate due to action at the beta receptors and you have perfect conditions for a myocardial infarction (heart attack).

Treatment with beta blockers fixes the elevated heart rate, but leads to a further increase in vasoconstriction. This is taken from one of my emergency medicine text books:

"Alpha-adrenergic antagonists control peripheral vasoconstriction that results from sympathetic stimulation due to amphetamines. Treating with a beta-blocker to control the heart rate will leave unopposed alpha activity that causes further vasoconstriction. Alpha-adrenergic antagonists specifically may be used to treat severe headache, SAH, cardiac ischemia, and hypertension associated with amphetamines. Use nitrates to control vasoconstriction and hypertensive emergency."

Therefore the correct treatment for amphetamine toxicity is Phentolamine (Regitine), a combined alpha 1/2 blocker, along with a nitrate like nitroglycerin or Nitroprusside (Nitropress).

thanks raybeez it was very informative.
I have read the use of clonidine with ritalin especially for restless feet syndrom.
And also read beta 1 blockers like metoprolol is sometimes used with MPH especially to keep sex drive alive.
i used beta-blockers with out a problem and without a benefit , i used with small doses .
i will use clonidine this time, anybody have an idea of dose and timing to use clonidine or any other alfa blocker.
is it sufice to use it that day only?

Serious adverse events have been reported in concomitant use with clonidine, although no causality for the combination has been established. The safety of using methylphenidate in combination with clonidine or other centrally acting alpha-2-agonists has not been systematically evaluated.

Despite this, I never noticed a problem with clonidine and MPH...
