What is the answer to life?

Does anyone here get life? It just seems to me like life is a cosmic joke. The value of life is all important and at the same time meaningless. Everyone I know has problems that they can't solve. You can't solve others problems. "If I could tell you the answer to your problems, I would, but you could never understand, because you have to learn for yourself."

I wish someone could give you advice on how to solve all your problems, but they can't. Religion is the answer to some, but it holds no real answers to everyday problems. Religions like Christianity and Buddhism can change your belief system and make you see the world for what it really is. The world is full of suffering. Not one person on Earth isn't suffering right now. Love is necessary to hate and hate necessary for love. Having neither love or hate is to be empty, not living at all. No one can understand you mind because even you don't understand it.

No one loves me and I don't love anyone else. I am a sinner. I never lie. Truth is the only thing we have. You think you know god? You think you know better than god? You think you can explain life? Maybe there isn't a god but, if you go against the natural order of the universe, you will get hurt. Doing drugs, lying, cheating, sinning, and being self centered all hurt yourself and the ones around you. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Everything you do has consequences. The only way to learn from your mistakes is through pain. The pain of a loved one or the pain in yourself can teach you about life. Change is pain. Change is good. No one can understand the answer, because there is no answer. The world is filled with self centered idiots who cannot understand the value of a sunset, or a kind soul. The world is filled with those who hate their fellow man.

Those who have it all don't even know it until it's taken from them. Some wouldn't even understand then. You can have it all and still want to end your life for the stupidest reasons. Other people aren't worth your trouble because they will fuck you over and backstab you in the end to benefit themselves. It will come in one quick stab or a gradual bloodletting over years. Love is one of the most powerful forces in the world, but it is also the most destructive force in the world. Love destroys friendships, lives, and countries.

"Once you realize that there really is no purpose to your life and there is no one there to give you answers, you are forever tortured with that knowledge." -*SWeeT-e* Ignorance is bliss, but you will never understand the reasons behind your problems through ignorance. It is not the solution. There is no solution. Only god can understanding everything there is to know and he doesn't even understand everything, that is why he created us. You’d think that when mankind understood their reason for existence and the mysteries of the universe there would no longer be a need for us to exist. Those who think they know it all are fools.

The thinkers, and midnight ponderers Life is full of paradoxes, hoops and mazes. Those who can navigate them all long enough will receive the reward, death.
Everyone has it backwards; neither the optimists nor the pessimists have it right.

I look forward to input, though I warn you I might feel completely different tomorrow.

The "point of an individuals life" is from an evolutionary point of view simply to test ones combination of genes for survival fitness... and if this new combination is good, you will survive and pass on good genes to the next generation....

thats the point of life for bacteria, insects and all animals....

the other "problems" encountered by human beings are essentially self created... no "meaning" in them from a general point of view.. only within that little society we created....

unless of course, you believe in GOD....

I guess thas not the answer you wanted, but I just thought of bringing up my philosophical theory of the point of life.... And if you see it that way.... everything becomes pretty simple... in my case at least...

if you like to think in circles and question everything.. even the existence of truth.. then yes... maby it is... :)

i like the theories more than the truth, keeps me busy:)

there is no absolute answer to life, you make you own answer.thats the wonder of being human, we have choice.

the truth to a simple life is to not ask the questions, but i like the questions, the questions and theories are a way for my mind to evolve itself.isnt it great that we have self evolving minds.

i never want to know the answer, im sure it would be very depressing and boring.

very interesting^^^ although when i realized how much id read and how far down the page id gone i just couldnt go on.

David Bohm believes the reason subatomic particles are able to remain in contact with one another regardless of the distance separating them is not because they are sending some sort of mysterious signal back and forth, but because their separateness is an illusion.

i strongly believe in this theory alone so i dont think i need to read on.

I don't think life is a question, but more an answer to a question. the question would be "what if?"

Everything that anything could ever think of would exist somewhere in this universe.

But then again i'm wrong.

How could this, that and everything come down to a question and an answer, how close minded are you if you think that life is just a question and an answer.

The moment you were born you understood everything, but every moment since then you just complicated it soo much you forgot it's purpose.

One day you'll stop thinking about why everything is all here and realise you'll never work it out.

If you can ever come to a point in your life where there is not a thought in your head, you'll either be the luckiest person in the world.. or dead.

peace.

Life doesnt have a meaning or point..... but this is a good thing, not bad.

If life had a meaning then that would be proof of fate/destiny which means ultimately we have no control or free will.

If however you believe that life has no meaning then you are liberated from fate and your choices and free will reign supreme.

I find it funny that "freedom" is one of the ultimate human goals...

yet everyone keeps searching for meaning.... searching for something to prove that there is a point.... prove that we are not free.

So what is it we want? Freedom or meaning?

I opt for freedom... it means i have unlimited choices at my disposal and such is the reality of conciousness.

If meaning comes at the cost of freedom then I dont want meaning... I just want to enjoy the ride that is life.

In the words of the late great Bill Hicks.... "It's just a ride"

This theory is actually still used in Quantum theories. In essense what he is saying is that particles tend to "remember" every other particle they come into contact with. This is the concept behind quantum computers. Like memory in your computer, but uses little or no external energy. I can't wait to see a working model of a quantum computer personally. Physics/ mathemetics will never be the same again. We will be able to do true non-linear algebra, and geometry.

Bohm is a genius. Notice my user name...=D

although it's only an observation and not a conclusion or explanation, what dimitri9 said is very true
everything seems exactly as if we were just meant to continuously evolve and improve ourselves until we reach some perfection/goal/understanding of life
this theme of awakening always comes very strong to my mind when i take mushrooms

I think we're all asking the wrong question. We're asking an impossible question which requires an impossible answer. Take one step back; there you go.

Random responses follow...

"It's just a ride," I like that. The question is, who's riding? We cannot understand logically, but we can start abandoning limited perspectives.

There is no meaning. Meaning is a limited human construct completely insufficient to encompass what is going on right now.

I also can't read that whole thing about David Bohm, maybe some time. I do know that currently scientists are still questioning Aspect's experiment as well. All I'd like to add is that separateness is an illusion... but saying everything is one doesn't quite cover reality either because clearly reality is not some homogenous stuff. No statements, no feelings are going to sum up reality. This is where the "paradox" of zen koans comes in. There wouldn't be any paradoxes if we didn't get so hung up on words. That's the way the world's been going for the last several thousand years, though.

As for the issue of problems, that reminds me of an old Buddhist story. A man came to see the Buddha one day and immediately launched on a tirade. "I feel happy some days, but other days I just can't get anything going. My kids are good kids, but I feel like they don't respect me. My donkey's getting too old and I don't know if I can buy a new one." The man went on until he had poured out all of his problems. He stopped and looked at the Buddha for a response. "You've got 82 problems, and there's nothing I can do about any of them, and nothing you can do either," Buddha told him. The man was outraged. "I thought you were supposed to be a great spiritual teacher! What the hell good is your teaching if it can't help with my problems?" "It can help with the 83rd problem." "What's that?" "You want to not have any problems."

I think the real problem the original poster on this thread is having is that they feel like a separate self, alone and cut off in the world, that is born and will die. Emotional and mental pain you feel is indicative of where you are currently caught and stuck. Although it is one interesting experience, pain doesn't teach you about life and it can be released. Love isn't a destructive force, it's the pain and limitation that cause the problems.

If one gradually destroys the ego, the blockage, constriction and sense of separateness, using meditation or other spiritual paths one reaches the perspective of ?, from which this life is one of an infinite number of experiencings of ?. There's no particular point to this exercise, but life is more fun when it seems like a ride and not deathly serious. Which brings me back to the start of my post.

its not our job to understand life. if we did we would be in alignment with gods consciousness and probably not on this planet/reality.

we just have to do the best we can in whatever we want. we each have a miniscule part to play in the grand scheme, so play it to the best of your ability and youll be just fine :)

i am reminded of my pet mice, every single day they attempt to dig through the sawdust and to freedom through a glass aquarium. while i sit there laughing at them, and their inability to understand their situation. im sure god does the same to those of us who try to figure out life with our limited brain. but even though we will never figure it out, i feel its essential to try, simply because its so damn interesting :)
