Besides that part right before you go to sleep. Is it like when you take a couple OXY's and just can't sleep because you feel awesome so you nodd of and on and fight your way into not sleeping so you can enjoy your high?

It's what caused all those holes in your friends' athletic shorts. Basically it's passing out because you're so opiated... sometimes you nod out for a brief second and wake up, like while talking. Other times, you're out for a while and can be dangerous like during an OD. Very dangerous to nod while driving.. have to slap yourself or have someone slap you if you don't pull over. Very dangerous. It's also the goal many times of getting high, or a bar to measure how high you are/how strong the product is. Ie "Todd was nodding out from that little shot, it must be some good dope!" or "I can't catch a nod from my Methadone anymore, looks like I should ask for a higher dose"

I'm sure you've experienced nodding before without any drugs. Think about back in school... You're so tired that your head falls... then the jerk up. Remember that?

Its just like that only drug induced... and more intense. You know you're high when you start to nod off.

Nodding is when you take such a high dose of an opiate in such a quick succession that you actually go into a semi-conscious state. You're aware that you exist, but you can't move or anything. I would compare it to sleep paralysis. Except instead of being really scary, it's a very intense, pleasurable experience.

Here's a quote from the Urban Dictionary

v. to doze off when high on opiates.

Your neck goes limp and your head just kinda slumps down on your shoulder and it seems like you just blinked for a really long time, when you come to.
Johnny was nodding hard after he took four Oxy.

Nodding is usually referring to being on a high dose of opiates to where you are falling in and out of sleep/consciousness. With my experiences with opiates the most common being oxy, i've never really had a real nod off of it like most people and i have done pretty high doses with no tolerance upto 30mg.

I would definitely get severe nausea and itchyness and sedated but never felt my head feeling that heavy where i was going in & out.

However a few weeks ago i was on vacation and was able to get some 5mg oxy's from a relative and i took 20mg with no tolerance and smoked some weed with it, now i was sorta nodding, my voice sounded real tired according to other people and sometimes i would feel my eyes closing or wanting to stop in the middle of a sentence till i jerked back into reality. However that was only with weed, which is known to severely to potentiate the nod with opiates.

Many addicts/ or fans of opiates love to get to the point where they are nodding, i personally don't really like it when i'm stuck in one spot with my eyes closing in and out of consciousness.
