What is MDE?

We all know what MDA/MDMA/MDEA is (ok well probably not MDEA) but what is MDE. MODS? Any ideas on the effects and how closely its chemical structure is to MDMA?

While the effects of these two substances are sufficiently similar to make differentiation difficult, there are some significant subjective differences. MDE is somewhat less potent than MDMA, a typical dose being in the range 100-160mg (as opposed to 80-140mg with MDMA).
At large doses, MDE may somewhat resemble MDA (methylenedioxy amphetamine). Although MDE's psychedelic effects are less; it has a "stoning" effect for some people, and at higher doses can make walking or dancing difficult. Large doses of MDMA can have a similar effect, although it seems that somewhat more can be used without incurring the almost drunken intoxication.
In smaller amounts, MDE greatly resembles MDMA, although the physical and tactile effects are generally perceived as being less prevalent. The emotional opening and empathic effects for which MDMA is famous, although present with MDE do not seem to be as pronounced. Because of this more subtle effect, MDE has the possible advantage as a recreational substance over MDMA when used in public (such as at raves). With MDE, the user is less likely to embarass him/herself in public through inappropriate touching and emotional bonding while still being able to enjoy some level of heart opening and connection with others.
Additionally, MDE has a shorter duration than MDMA. While MDMA generally lasts 3-4 hours of full effects, MDE's full effects last more like 2-4 hours.

The difference between MDMA and MDEA is very slight in structural terms.
Basically MDEA has two carbons attached to the nitrogen in the compound, while MDMA only has one. As a point of interest, MDA hasn't got any carbons on the nitrogen. The extra carbons probably reduce polarity and thus increase absorbtion in non-polar cells.

i tried a pure dose of mdea recently... im unsure of the dosage involved however i found the experience to be extremely fun! its definately a different kind of feeling, (the stoned but pilling description is faily acurate), very "e-tarded" and made me laff a lot...
i found it to have a good synergy with mdma and my mate VERY very much enjoyed it with 2cb...

Definatly a more "stoned" feeling than MDMA.

Rayda: No. There's a world of difference between someone posting "I once had some MDEA" and "All pills lately have MDEA, coz they don't feel the same as they used to".
The former is fine. Plenty of people here would have done it, many of them would probably know for sure.
It's the latter example that will definitly bring out comments you quoted. This is mainly because a lot of sub-genius level posters here don't realise there's this thing called tolerance, and blame their loss of magic on this substance, not the fact they've been shoving pills down their necks every weekend for the last two years.
