Opioids What is going on with my chest? *More from previous semi-OD in sleep story*

are you snorting your pills by any chance? not sure if you mentioned it between the 2 threads but i didnt see it.
my opinion is that you are havin a weird reaction in your sleep, maybe something like sleep apnea? it might not be opiate related at all.

This is what I was thinking. See your doctor about your symptoms but also mention the possibility of sleep apnea.

I still think you really need to seek medical attention. This could be something related to your previous overdose, or another medical condition. Please at least see a doctor :)
If you're worried, you don't even need to tell them that you've been taking your meds in any way other than prescribed, just tell them about all your symptoms including the other night in case it's related. As I said before, a failure of the heart to function properly can lead to pulmonary edema, where the lungs fills up with fluid. Or you could have a lung infection, such as pneumonia. Chest pains and difficulty breathing could be symptoms of a number of serious things. Please get medical help as soon as possible. Good luck :)

^^this.
At first the "migraine" confused me, but after reading up on sleep apnea I noticed that the two symptoms are linked.

I should ask my question better since I can break it down to 1 thing...what is the possible damage I could have done on Thursday night with that 120mg dose? What could I have done to my chest when I was struggling to breathe so hard when I fell asleep, permanent-wise?

My mom told me I do have mild-sleep apnea, but why on earth would this happen out of no where after I have been on this medication my WHOLE life?

I've heard that opioids exacerbate it. See a doctor. You haven't been on this medication your whole life, IIRC you've been on it since you were 18, so that's less than five years isn't it? I would really advise seeing a doctor because opioids are strong CNS depressants including on your respiratory system, so it's important to address the other respiratory conditions.

I totally agree with SwimmingDancer, Tri & others about seeking medical attention. Please know I'm not trying to belittle your situation in any way, and Im not dismissing the fact that the Oxycodone being involved.
With that being said, I have a couple of questions:
You said that the amount of oxycodone you ingested before these 2 "episodes", for lack of a better word, was totally normal and seemed nowhere near the most you've ever done at a time.
So obviously you've taken oxycodone many, many times. This weird chest thing (as scary and possibly dangerous as it was) has only happened twice. What makes you so sure the Oxycodone is to blame?
Again, I def think you should see your MD...just having a hard time understanding why you're so sure the drugs are the culprit.
I mean, try and think of how many times you've taken the same or higher dose and had no problems...
Just a couple of thoughts :)

Cause i took 120mg went to bed and woke up with my chest like half dead lol....thats how i know it was the oxycodone lmao

Sorry JusTrynaNod but I have to agree with the above quote.
You said earlier that your mom told you that you have mild sleep apnea.
Ask your MD what to do about this and if the symptoms you had are an example of this.

I think the 1st line of action is to make an app. with your doctor ASAP - I'm only saying ASAP because this issue is obviously causing you distress and a quick resolve is in your best interest (hence you started this thread. You can get the answer from your MD that will sort this out and you can go back to your regular routine, meds etc with no more fear.)
It's really not that hard, honestly.

I have another thought....if you have a sunburn as severe as the one you mentioned that has turned into weeping wounds, it is quite possible that you have developed an infection that has either caused the chest pain, or caused your body to react differently to the amount of oxy that you took...this is a very possible scenario, and you would still probably would want to see a doc....as soon as you said sunburn, I thought of this...severe sunburn can cause many different adverse reactions in your body, it can invoke an immuno response.... Just throwing that out there

I certainly understand why you would initially assume it was the drugs. It just seems strange, since the amount you took that night isn't a dose you consider high, given your tolerance.
I hope you figure it out soon. I can't imagine how I would feel if I thought my pain meds may be putting me in danger.
Think I already said this, but PM anytime you want to talk or just vent.
Have a better night, my friend.

I found out what it's from. It's from the like 20 bottles of aerosol Aloe spray i've used on this serious sunburn & the bottles of lanocaine aloe i have put on. 3rd degree burns, serious shit. I must have like, build up around my lungs from it. Hopefully it wil go away. Odd that it had a bad reaction with oxycodone.

Oh, you got it figured out. I was about to tell you my theory that it was just a coincidence the first night, and it was just a purely mental thing every time after that. Looking back though, that seems a tad farfetched... Anyway, glad to hear you got it figured out, man. That does seem like a potentially annoying, not to mention TERRIFYING problem. Keep us updated on any change in your condition, will you? I know we're nothing more than random internet people to each other, but your well-being does mean something to me.

Stay safe!

Thank you so much man! I will keep you up to date, I pray that my chest clears up with this aerosol shit & im eventually able to take my oxys again without any scary shit happening. Do you think this aerosol thing or whatever got into my lung-area will eventually clear up? Or could this be permanent aerosol-build up around the lungs or something?

Well, I'm far from an expert in the field so don't quote me, but I don't believe a one, two, or even twenty time inhalation of aerosol into the lungs would cause permanent damage. Even then, I would imagine it would need to be a fairly direct inhalation, like spraying directly into your nose. So, if you just sprayed it to your body and inhaled the small particles in the air I think you would be fine. But like I said, I'm no expert and when in doubt it is wise to further consult your medical professionals, but you seem to be on top of that. From what I've seen, I would assume the worst that could happen is inflammation of the alveoli or pneumonia, but this is not as serious as it sounds until its later stages.

here is a fairly informative article I came across in my half-hour research:
http://www.sehsc.com/PDFs/Guidance for Aerosol Applications-Sep 01.pdf

Again, I hope your situation clears up, you're in my prayers!

Honestly, I don't think it has anything to do with this, I would still see a doctor regarding the sleep apnea.

it sounds like an ongoing chest infection and while on opiates it masks some of the symptoms only to come back and bite you in the ass while you're withdrawn and your immune system is further compromised. a similar deal goes on with me, though, is further related to smoking as well - especially while high and then quickly having to withdraw.

please see a doctor.
