Im looking for a web site were i can type in a chemical and an explination will come up about it. I've looked all over for one but i couldn't find it. Can you please help?

Damn I expect this kind of question from a greenlighter. As a bluelighter you should know better. This is the same as asking for a drug connection, which technically you are doing. So I hope this thread gets close & you get stomach cancer...

you people are too quick to get pissy. maybe it's not a drug he's looking for information about. just yesterday i was looking for information about 4-hydroxy-indole (which is not a drug in any sense of the word). god damn, i'm glad i didn't bother to ask anyone on this board.

Well, a "chemicals" are a pretty big area. Right off the bat, all I can assume is that he's not talking about an element or a compound. Unless he's including compounds, like some people would say Windex is a chemical, where it's actually composed of ammonia, water, soap and blue dye...
It's kind of like asking a quilting discussion group "do you know any good material websites?", (thread? fabric? needles? studded leather quilting harnesses??) except we're all bitter, resentful drugfiends with too much time on our hands.

Chill out, people! He/she might be working on a research paper or something.
To me this sounds like a legit question, so why are we to assume the worst?
Now, to try to answer the question, there are a lot of websites on chemicals, but personally I suggest a book called THE MERCK INDEX.
I am in the chemical industry (no, I'm not a drug dealer; no, I can't sell anything to anyone other than established companies with an ad on the yellow pages :) ) and that book is my freaking BIBLE!

HOORAY!!!! I LOVE THE MERCK! It's (one of the) coolest chem books. My mom got me one as a graduation gift from High School a few years ago, and I ended up giving it to a chem major friend of mine, but now my Chem Major roommate has one too!! HOORAY!!!
Another good website for chemical stuff is
http://chemfinder.cambridgesoft.com/ It will give you a lot of basic info about a lot of different chemicals.

Do you know if there is an online version of Merck or do I have to go buy the book or cdrom?
