Trigger Warning What if we have it all wrong about death?

What if life is not the wonderful ideology we are told it is and death is the favorable state to astride for? That would indicate all along we’ve been lied to by the innocence of fear portrayed by death. Life is a precursor to death could it be death is the joy of living and not life itself.

This does not mean we should hurry death along on the contrary we must wait for death to choose us and only then are we prepared to be fulfilled by death. No one really knows what happens when our physical bodies close down and fail to regenerate. Does consciousness continue and to what purpose does our conscious serve without a brain and body to move about? It seem egotistical and vain to assume our consciousness is stored or continue to be useful in the grand scheme of things, after all we are merely creatures like animals born on earth waiting for….death?

What is it worth to live if not to live fully without regret? Regret is like living under a wet blanket where to the spark of life is snuffed out before you can grab it and run with it. Guilt is the same as regret it stifles the mind and slows growth. You must shed this baggage to live fully and consciously. The world is not open to a closed mind. Death may not be the final frontier, one step at a time until…are we there yet? Perhaps death is the wonder we strive for?

sometimes nothing is better than something. i think it is a lack of quality of life, though. i imagine going to sleep and not waking up is better for some. there's a lack of dreams. i always worried my dreams were manufactured by the government though, so maybe it's better to be free from them. just imo.

What if food carried a variety of experiences? Say if you eat an eggplant or something purple you would trip on purple haze? Strawberry fields would be forever and candy canes would be like experiencing the multi universe?

don't ask me, i'm just bulimic. i'm j/k. you are entirely fucking correct.

(then you are living for binging and purging. or at least i do)

maybe there is nothing in death but ironically suppose life is misunderstood to be the thing we live for and all of this time it is death that gives us our kicks?

Are dreams a product of imagination based on reality? Can the dream state be activated without sleep or substance?

I have been shit sacred of dying my whole life and still am. The only time I can accept my mortality as no issue is when using classic hallucinogens, especially acid which allows me significant ego death more reliably than mushrooms.
I honestly think death looks kinda chill - it's life I seem to run into issues with!

I doubt it will happen but am hoping to be aware of the dying process - I won't be holding on to suffer a few more days if in pain that's for sure. I'm really good at 'letting go' into psychedelic experience and ego death states so I reckon that experience will stand me in good stead! Maybe I can be better at dying than living and finally set a 'good' example

I know the survival instinct in humans is powerful af and that probably helps make us afraid of death (so we keep away from hastening it maybe) but, logically, what is there to fear? The unknown maybe, but the inevitability trumps that in my psyche anyway

It will either be absolute unawareness (my hunch) which cannot be in any way uncomfortable because there is no awareness, with our (unconscious) 'energy' perhaps dissipating to be part of everything. Or, in the 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance that a religion is 'correct' there will be reincarnation (we are unaware of it again, but can I please, please request being sent to some planet where the dominant species is a little less fucked up than here? Thanks in advance) or some kind of afterlife where we all meet again and frolic for all eternity (cool...nice fantasy). Even if we get plunged into the depths of Hell (we won't, its imaginary / social control construct) well, all me mates will be there too and I hear the Devil has all the best droogz and music. Better than harps and clouds etc imo (I do like harps actually, just not for all eternity...now that would be hell

Nothing whatsoever to fear, billions of people have managed to die just fine, and we may as well try to accept the situation because there aint no escaping it!

I hones

I am one of the classically deluded - I was raised as a Roman Catholic and despite my understanding of cosmological physics I still retain some of the psychosis of God being definable. But Im pretty sure being dead will feel exactly the same as I did in the summer of 1975, four years before I was born.

Yeah, that shit runs deep eh

Interesting how you retain that in the full knowledge that it's bollocks innit? Anxiety and logic just don't share a pillow, to say the least. Just shows how absolutely brainwash-abusive the catholic church is, scaring the living shit outta little kids. Sorry you went through that man <3, the whole shebang makes me feel proper sick

Not only the Catholic Church but as humans we are taught to revere life and cherish it as some cosmic gift from the creator. Such bull shit is that, life is hard and people including suffers unnecessarily.
Maybe the reward is getting your shit together enough to know you were mislead all along but by then with all the mileage you packed into your body you either don’t care or you’re too tired to do anything to change the system.
Life is not what it seemed to be at all growing up but it was the best time of my life and my memories continue to live inside of me.
I welcome death I don’t care what comes next whatever it is I am open for it.

Of course
Speaking of horses it is amazing how much humans miss. Look at the history. Look at the old western movies. The horses were power workers and served their humans. And they did it peacefully. They seem to be higher beings. More strength than the human who rode on him and shot people in the back because he was a low life human. Horses did it as a great example of serving a master. And as Bob Dylan said, we all have to serve a master. Whether it is money or God.

"Gotta Serve Somebody"

You may be an ambassador to England or France
You may like to gamble, you might like to dance
You may be the heavyweight champion of the world
You may be a socialite with a long string of pearls

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed
You're gonna have to serve somebody
It may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody

Might be a rock'n' roll addict prancing on the stage
Might have money and drugs at your commands, women in a cage
You may be a business man or some high degree thief
They may call you Doctor or they may call you Chief

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed
You're gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody

You may be a state trooper, you might be an young turk
You may be the head of some big TV network
You may be rich or poor, you may be blind or lame
You may be living in another country under another name

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes
You're gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody

You may be a construction worker working on a home
You may be living in a mansion or you might live in a dome
You might own guns and you might even own tanks
You might be somebody's landlord you might even own banks

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes
You're gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody

You may be a preacher with your spiritual pride
You may be a city councilman taking bribes on the side
You may be working in a barbershop, you may know how to cut hair
You may be somebody's mistress, may be somebody's heir

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes
You're gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody

Might like to wear cotton, might like to wear silk
Might like to drink whiskey, might like to drink milk
You might like to eat caviar, you might like to eat bread
You may be sleeping on the floor, sleeping in a king-sized bed

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed
You're gonna have to serve somebody
It may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody

You may call me Terry, you may call me Jimmy
You may call me Bobby, you may call me Zimmy
You may call me R.J., you may call me Ray
You may call me anything but no matter what you say

You're gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed
You're gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody

Bullshit.
I don't have to serve anybody.*

On death--
I've always figured it was one of two things:
Either it'll be like it was before we were born (nothingness) or it'll be something that totally surprises everybody.
Most likely the former.

*PS-- I like most of Dylan's work but Slow Train Coming is by far his worst album. And you'll notice his Christian phase didn't last very long.
