ok so, i have some amphetamine sulphate paste (base) that is in dire straits. there are 4 main problems:
1) i have been drying it under a powerful lamp but apparently even that heat is too much as the base has gone from white with a tiny tint of tan to a dark grey white as if it is being burnt or cooked. is it damaged and now worthless and inpotent? or can i still sniff it?
2) it was not incredibly wet base but for some reason it took around 8 times longer than it does normally where i simply leave it out at room temperature for two-three or so hours. i persisted this time with wafters, candles, radiators, boiling water, the lamp, room temperature sitting. to no avail. why might this be? is it just down to some freakishly humid day? (although i didnt notice if it was)
3) i removed it from the light and let it dry naturally for a while untill it was the consistancy of hard chewed gum left out in the air. but when i put it under the light again for another blast (not as close this time though) it began to go soft and gooey (though not actually wet somehow). is this because one or more of the adulterants melts at this temperature? when i remove it from the light it goes hard again.
4) when it did finally dry as much as it was going to (it is over 24 hours since it started drying), it was stiff and quite hard still sticky, mouldable (with effort) very flexible and would not breack if bent, therefore impossible to chop up. the surface is shiney, rather than 'powdery and crumbly'. as in it was like very hard gum or resin rather than a block of chalk. what does this mean? is it because i have handled this one alot more than any other (due to the lengthy drying) and oil from my skin has gotten in? or wax vapour from the candle flame condensing? i dont know
