Where are you people finding all these stoners who aren't open to the use of any other drugs? I mean yeah, I've met a lot of stoners who don't use any drugs besides marijuana. But the ones who preach about all other drugs being bad are the stuff of legend, in my experience. I'm a stoner myself, and I've lived in a couple very pot-friendly places, and known a lot of other stoners. Most at least accept others' forays into other forms of chemical fun, so long as these people don't pressure them to try other things.
And for all you folks who begrudge others the spiritual value they find in drugs (provided they share this joy with others in a socially graceful fashion), I feel very sorry for you. I really wish that I, and all the people in my life, never become that jaded.
I think I just fail to understand any sort of anger or hatred toward groups of people, of any kind, who are harmless. Most of the drug subcultures I can't stand are all very much the opposite: ones where you have to constantly be on guard for something cata-fucking-strophic to go down:
* Tweakers. Very impulsive. Devil may care. Reckless disregard for the safety of self and others. You can be the calmest, smoothest guy around, but if you're unlucky enough to have a face that reminds some tweaker you just met, who's in the throes of amphetamine psychosis, of someone he doesn't like, it's not your lucky day.
* The bar and frathouse-style drinking scene. Literally attracts people who find aggression recreational. Celebrates dumbness at every turn. Bad music, LOUD. Few people with common interests, for me. Way too macho a scene for my tastes.
* The club scene. Fun every once in a while, if I seize upon a great deal (for example, a world famous performer, free doors before a certain time, my best clothes are good enough, parking is free, and I'll be bringing all my own head candies), and I go with some friends. But most of the time, it's too expensive a scene for someone as frugal as myself, has a little too much surface and too little substance, and isn't really made for happily married guys.
Cokeheads don't actually piss me off, I just have trouble taking them very seriously.
