Hello all.

This question is for people who've got Angina or a diagnosed heart condition (or someone who's in the "know").. What does it really feel like when you get chest pains related to your heart condition? How often do you feel it? How severe is it? and how long do you feel it for? I'm asking this because I've been getting vague and mild chest pains/discomfort and I've been referred to a Cardiologist by my GP for further investigations so you can imagine I'm kinda freaked out over it :( Cheers guys.

It can vary from person to person and you never want to ignore chest pain, so it’s good that you are getting it checked out. Having said that it could also be benign (not serious.)

Often chest pain associated with a heart attack is accompanied by a feeling of pressure, and/or shortness of breath. The patient can also have nausea and/or sweating. I had one patient who had a severe heart attack and the ONLY symptoms he had were severe nausea and vomiting.

Some symptoms of Coronary Artery Disease are fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain, and nausea. A stress test, EKG, and echocardiogram may be some tests your Cardiologist orders if he/she thinks the pain may be cardiac related.

I had a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft and the only symptom I was having was severe fatigue, but I could tell something was wrong and that the fatigue was abnormal.

Hopefully yours is nothing serious. Let us know how your appointment goes!
