Hey there!

If you've been following BDD for a little while, you may have noticed that lots of changes have been occurring recently and we've been trying to progress the forum in a positive direction.

So far we've tightened up some of the guidelines, added a social thread to help people get to know each other and ask quick questions, began adding resources such as the conversion charts and this is only the beginning! For a full explanation of our vision for BDD, please have a look at the State of BDD thread.

At this point we'd love to hear from you guys! What do you think of the direction BDD is going? What do you like or dislike about the state of the forum? What further changes would you like to see?

We're hoping to get some feedback and suggestions for how we can better spread the harm reduction message, but please remember to be civil and respectful and keep your comments constructive :) And please do not use this thread to voice complaints about a moderator or about your thread being closed (PM the moderator or senior staff about such issues).

So... let us know YOUR thoughts, BDD! As always, the BLUA and BDD rules apply and keep any social chat in the social thread, of course. :)

i think its great! everyones very helpful. i also like the social thread. great for quick questions and quick answers.

I really like the personal thread idea instead of megathreads. Although I understand the thinking behind megathreads I do find it really difficult to find the info I need, and it's pretty daunting being advised to read the 16 page megathread before your question will be answered - there's usually loads of helpful info there but loads of chat/repetition/stuff that doesn't apply to my question to wade through! The way you guys have decided to run BDD is a lot simpler and more user-friendly in my opinion :)

Not been reading it long, have ventured over from EADD, but am already really enjoying the range of topics brought up and trying to help where I can - tis really interesting and feels like proper harm reduction. Loving the social and info booth too hehe :D

No constructive criticisms yet but will stick around a bit longer and let you know if I have any ideas, hehe. But great work guys :)

I too am fond of the personal threads because wading through a 35 page thread just to get a quick answer to a question is tedious and offputting. To go along with that, new members should be instructed that the search feature is their best friend.

Most personal threads could in all honesty be answered by using the search feature, but the mods (and others) are very quick to point them in that direction in their replies.

i think it's essential to Bluelight-hell it's essential to me. i just haven't been able to spend much time here. but i am now. i need to increase my basic drug knowledge to be a better Mod. plus there seems to be quite a few report posts here and that is something else i need to be schooled on. i think i need to spend more time here feeding my brain. so i say BDD rocks!

I always check out what's happening in BDD. I've learned a lot without really looking and am getting a better sense of who people are by reading what they have to say. I haven't been here long enough to notice an improvement with the new guidelines, but I like it the way it is now.

I think too many threads are being closed that are claimed to not be harm reduction when they really are in some form. Some questions are closed because they are answered but some people may be able to add some interesting facts or experiences that may actually help explain something having to do with the question. Some extra insight may help answer some of these questions before having to be closed. Let the thread run a little longer before closing it.

Not that my comment here will change anything. I have a feeling I'll get a little bitterness but hey, I'm just stating what "I" think. That was the question right?

On a side note, I think NeighborhoodThreat is doing a great job as a mod!

^ K'dout, I think some criticism seems to be what they wanted by the tone of the OP.

While I was coming in here to say how I think BDD has come a long way and it's still improving and the staff is entirely fantastic. It's not what it was before we got these folks on board, and I think they are doing a great job!

However --- don't be afraid to post criticism in here. I'm not a BDD mod but I care a lot about this forum, and they asked for "dislikes" as well. Just thought I'd toss in my $0.02 that I know the moderators would love to hear any concerns and/or more ways they can continue to improve the forum.

p_c is exactly right! We want all criticism and suggestions/recommendations/thoughts/etc you have.

Even constructive criticism, k'd-out, don't be ashamed. :)

Thanks for the input K'd-OUT, I assume you are the same K'd-OUT that used to post years and years ago with a very similar username but must have lost the password.

I think that since the new guidelines have come in that a few threads have been closed slightly prematurely but they all seemed to be on the way out anyway. Will keep your comments in mind in future when pulling the close trigger.

NT and hydro are both doing great jobs as fellow mods here :) Long may it continue :)

People often dislike when lots of threads get closed but when trying to shift and progress the forum, it's a necessary evil. Trust me, none of us enjoy closing threads - it's tedious and annoying but we do it trying to consider the big picture and the forum as a whole.

The most important thing to remember is that ALL of us make errors! If ANY of you think a thread that was closed has good reason to be reopened just drop a PM and let us know why! It doesn't mean we automatically will but there's certainly a good possibility and we'll always hear you out. Plus if you don't, there's a 100% chance it'll remain closed!

THANK YOU for the constructive feedback, K'd-OUT. This is exactly what we're looking for and we'd like more.

Tell us how you feel, BDD!

I've been MIA the past few weeks, but I think BDD is the shit. Many of the regular contributors in BDD are super sharp and I have learned a lot from them. The mods are helpful and friendly, and they do a great job regulating BDD.

I've noticed that there are particular mods who are almost always super courteous and respectful when closing threads, regardless of how ridiculous the thread may be. I think that's really awesome and it encourages people who are new to Bluelight to continue engaging the community and to continue asking questions.

My only real suggestion is that the mods have their own theme song. May I suggest "Regulate by Warren G, feat. Nate Dogg"?

I think after a new user is registered and for the entirety of their being a Greenlighter, that when they click on a fourm, it redirects to the guidelines.

Possibly the first time, require them to spend at least a minute on the page before they go past it.

I want to literally choke everyone who posts SWIM.

SWIM? Yeah I love to swim, especially since it is the summer. <What I think whenever I see that foolishness.

Haha it's cos of the other forum which I will not name.. posted there once then the swimming did my head in.

Nothing realy constructive to add sorry, haha.. except the social thread rocks! <3

Think we need a page or thread or something to link people to with info on tramadol - had so many posts about that lately...

Also I really want to get on with updating the dictionary too, think that'd help a lot of newbies :)

I think that when threads are closed its really good to let the poster know where else they can post (ie social thread or other forum) and give the option to re-open - sometimes people have several questions, and it only comes out later, or someone might read it late and have a gem of info they want to impart.. but overall the individual thread thang is working really well IMO :)

I really do <3 BDD, wish I'd come over sooner! So thanks Mugz for recommending it :)
