I actually think DXM use is still quite prevalent in the US, specifically the high school crowd who is just to young or hasn't learned how to source drugs in general. Earth, over at Erowid once told me the most monotonous part of approving trip reports is finding one that isn't about DXM lol.
So yeah. It's still around.
But yeah most people graduate DXM pretty early on. These days with the prevalence of really good and cheap street drugs in addition to the darknet, most people have access to more than they'd ever had in their lives.
I'm not going to judge anyone, but i personally don't see much if any reason to re-visit DXM when I've got novel phenethylamines and tryptamines to play around with.
So yeah. It's still around.

So what was left was the beads TR version, and the sorbitol [laxative at an effective dose of DXM] sirup.
And now its banned, best med for that irritating itch cough, taken away.
As theywere afraid of having something happen like in the US.
Which wouldn t as kids on that age 14/ 17 especially in rural area's can get any drug [beside crack or heroin] they want.
Its a bible belt bored kids situation, they created. So druguse is exponetially higher then cities,
were there lots things [non drug] for young to engage in, and its going fast so now and 10 ago or my youth its a parabolic curve
