just took 25 mg of hydrocodone. feeling unbelievable (second time using opiates) and I feel all these euphoric waves hitting me, literally waves.

why does this happen? Drugs like alcohol and amphetamine make me happy, cause euphoria, but not in "waves". What makes opiates cause waves of euphoria?

A variety of things, but the main reason is the massive amounts of dopamine being released. Remember dopamine is our reward system that makes us happy when something pleasurable happens. Consequently if you become addicted and try kicking the habit, you will experience an inability to feel pleasure, happiness, etc. from normal things. Careful buddy, I'm not your parent, but I will still say use MODERATELY and RESPONSIBLY.

The pleasurable waves you are getting from the first couple of high from your opiates are amazing & will not always be like that after a month or so of use. You will still get high & have euphoria but theres nothing like those first several times getting high on hydrocodone, at least for me........

even when you stop for a while completely and dose again, or has that never been the case with you?

Dopamine being released and yeah this one time when I took a shit load of vicoden more than I ever have I was feeling sooooo good. I was sitting in my chair falling to the side a little but yeah the feeling was just too good. I definitely wanted to feel it again. This was when my use wasn't really that bad though.

Never experienced "waves" myself, just constant warmth, inner peace and love until the drowsy comedown.

Opiates are magical.

I started taking opiates for my back pain last summer for the first time so I never stopped using them to know if that was the case. Even with back pain, it takes the pain away & gives me the warm & cozy feelings everyone else gets. As far as the waves go, I didnt get them again. I only got the waves first couple times of doing them.

I would probably get them if I did heroin or something that strong but im not gonna dive into those bad habits.

They are currently doing research on substance P receptors that can be responsible for for the "waves" or euphoria. The thing to keep in mind is that the receptors are different for everyone. And not sure if you know but endorphines are 20 times stronger that morphine. You can get to a point with opiated that it will cause Opioid-induced hyperalgesia or opioid-induced abnormal pain sensitivity. This will actually cause pain when taking opiates.
