Opioids What can I use to precipitate calcium morphenate?

Last night I mixed warm water water and about 4 tsps of calcium hydroxide to about 6 pounds of poppy seeds in a large jug and stirred/shake vigorously. I allowed the solution to set for about 90 minutes, stirring often.

A layer of gunk was filtered out with a micron filter. After being cooled all night in the fridge there is a very thin layer of white, which I believe to be excess calcium hydroxide (all the morphine should be dissolved, yes?). I have ordered some ammonium chloride but It won't be here for another week.

I read that any weak acid will precipitate morphine base? Will adding some vinegar or lemon juice work? If so, how much should I add?

Any help me is appreciated.

Bring the ph down to 8-9 and the alkaloids will precipitate.
chloroform will isolate the morphine sothat the final yield doesnt contain codeine, thebaine, papervine etc.
ammonium chloride would be preferred though, theprecipitation is cleaner and it yield a hydrochloride salt

Added some distilled vinegar to the aqueous calcium morphenate solution. Don't know the exact pH but a tanish powder is precipitating after 2 hours in the fridge. I suspect this is either morphine freebase or maybe a morphine salt of acetic acid. After a few more hours when the precipitate has fully settled I will find out and post my results.

Get some pH papers or a pH meter, you can't half ass morphine extractions or it just won't work. That means if you have to ask how much lemon juice to use for a pound of seeds you are not equipped to do this.

It is also very unlikely you will be able to isolate morphine from poppy seed tea, there's too much other crap in there. You should at least start with a mixture of alkaloids only, minus any oils and protiens from the seed material.
