What Are You Munching On? V2. Stimulants, pizza and Gatorade

Jacket potatoes with coarse pepper, salt, butter, cheese, and coleslaw seems to have become a staple meal, when i have any appetite for eating. At least it's a quite nutritous and dead easy to make, cheap as chips too.

With all this stim consumption ive finally lost my little pot belly, something i never thought would happen. Unfortunately the 6 pack that i thought was hiding under the fat has gone, i cba to get it back, although having lost every ounce of fat it is the ideal time to start getting back in shape. Maybe one day when i have some energy i will make a start. :\

Just munched half of a half a peri-peri chicken (roast with chopped onions, chopped peppers, chopped fresh tomatoes, a dash of tomato puree, a hefty slosh of red wine and a slug of chilli sauce) served up wiv mashed potato (really good potatoes they are too - got properly good flavour too 'em).

Sounds good Shambles. If you don't mind me saying sometimes I think you "over egg" a recipe. Ie; add too many ingredients when sometimes simple and pure and cooking skills make ingredients sing and flavours stand out.

You would be correct, Ms K. I've always been fond of rather extravagant flavour combinations but I think I went into overdrive when smoking killed my tastebuds (or at least greatly numbed them). Seems my ability to taste things has improved greatly since switching to e-cigs though cos even I'm a little taken aback at some of my ingredient combos when actually sampling them now. Have recently started experimenting with more concise recipes to (so far) good effect... although I'm still prone to chucking in the odd kitchen sink now and then :o

Thais are the masters of making simple and cheap tasty food. A few simple ingredients can make the most tasty dishes on the planet. I might have to venture out to the Asian Grocery store now and get some stuff myself. Feel like some Tom Yum Goong. The epitome of simple and tasty.

So you've been to London then ;)
Actually no i haven't. I have done most of Europe but never went to England. My first trip there i was meant to fly to London but two days before i left my girlfriend who i was going to see and had been living there informed me she had taken a job on the Greek islandvof Rhodos. So i flew into Athens. Split up with her 3 weeks later but never ended up in England. Been back twice and spent both times on the continent. So no..i have never smelt London but Paris was on the nose in summer. Dog shit everywhere. Athens stunk of piss. Berlin has a strange smell too. I will get to the UK one day. Its on the list. Primarily to go to Scotland and check out the whiskey and a bit of my heritage (Scottish, Irish and German)

The other essential Thai cookbook. Same author. Many more recipes.

I've not had the chance to sample much Thai food. A Thai takeaway did eventually arrive in the town I spent my teens/twenties in and always enjoyed the bits I did get to sample but didn't get to delve too deeply. One of these days...

Dins today consisted of reduced section bargains. Starter of feta, pine nut and watercress tart followed by linguine with smoked salmon in white wine and cream sauce. Not bad for two quid all in.

Don't worry darling, I'll teach you how to make amazing pad Thai. Nam pla is essential. Sounds gross but that's the key to good pad Thai. That and a healthy handful of Coriander. YUM!!!!

I'll also teach you how to make my Jambalaya. ;)

Workstations at the ready <3=D

I must confess I have very happy memories of your Jambalaya - tis delish!!! =D

And I shall certainly be taking you up on the offer of Pad Thai tutorials. I'm actually very fond of fish sauce (albeit not just on its own - nobody is that twisted 8().

Actually the fish sauce i use Megachef which is regarded as the best is ok on its own. I am not going to drink the stuff by any means but tasting a teaspoon is quite pleasant. Seek it out.

Just finished munching pasta in bacon & blue cheese (specifically dolcelatte from the reduced section) sauce (also featuring lashings of white wine, leeks, onions, red & yellow peppers). Rich, creamy, tasty. Yum!

Thanks for the tip :)
