What are you munching on? v. Noodle nights n greedy monkeys

I could do with some salt & vinegar crisps like, might need to go to the shop. Had some homemade cauli & brocolli soup earlier with some chilli powder and paprika sprinkled over the top, really nice.

Slow roasted pork and apple sauce tonight with oven roasted veggies.

I'm not big on salt & vinegar, apart from on a poke of chips :) but I had the munchies and there's not a lot of crap in.

Have the meatloaf to make later for a house guest on Thursday but I quite fancy a pasta dish for dinner tonight.

What do you think - traditional macaroni cheese or something more exciting?

I always see mac & cheese as kids food like, it's alright but a bit boring. Pasta in general I find a bit boring tbh, think I made myself sick to the death of it as a student eating it every day because it was cheap.

Anyone got any decent fired rice dishes?

I fancy making my own chicken/ham fried rice in the wok but never tried it before, could buy it from the local chinese but fancy doing it myself tonight. Mayeb with some mushrooms, peas, chicken or bacon through it sounds quite nice.

Know what you mean about mac n' cheese but not had it in ages and fancy the simplicity and comfortness of it. Though I'm managing to get myself into a spangled state here, so possibly food will be off the agenda anytime soon 8)

Sounds lovely - are you going to use soya sauce and spices to jazz it up?

It wouldn't be much of a stir fry without soy (no a on the end Kate) and spices would it. Look up a recipe online for chicken stiry fry. 'Singapore style' is tasty or just make your own mix with whatever you've got (i.e. teaspoon of chilli, ginger, 5 spice, ground corriander, cumin etc), add some soy sauce, and some chicken stock. Sorted!

We're having breakfast for dinner tonight. Cumberland sausages, Cheese Omletes and Beans. I usually hate breakfast for dinner but I'm really looking forward to tonights yumminess

Look I can't be expected to spell properly during a mid-afternoon sesh :D

But agree on your recipe ideas!...as always m'drearest <3

I rarely eat fried breakfasts either they make me feel ill and greasy for the rest of the day and omlettes are horrible.

You can grill traditional "fry up" foods and poach the eggs etc, it can still be a nutritional meal especially if you add in lots of mushrooms and tomatoes.

Sausages any time are good - whether hot, cold or casseroled.

If I make a breakfast I always grill it.

I'm just about to eat some Hungarian Goulash that I've made from scratch with some nice chunks of beef, just waiting for the rice to cook. Got a nice bottle of red wine to go with it too.

Been in SUCH a foul mood all day, and after realising that I took 5 different drugs over the course of Saturday night, I decided that I need to nourish myself and my brain, especially my brain!!!

Yah, me too. I always grill the bacon and sausages. Eggs, pancakes and soda bread gets the fry treatment. Sometimes I fry the soda bread and sometimes I toast it.

Haven't really eaten much today because I had so much to drink during yesterday. It's been all about the fluids, mang.

Red wine will certainly nourish the brain. :D

I've only had Goulash once, in a Hungarian restaurant in Thailand of all places and it was epic. I'll need to make it some time.

Red wine counts as a dietary source of iron, but you'd need to drink 2 bottles of it to get the RDA amount =D

Goulash is so simple to make, and really cheap too! That's the whole traditional idea of it.

After reading this thread, I wish I'd bought some Soda Farls, or potato bread for breakfast tomorrow when I went to shop earlier.
