I have to admit never ate steak tartare - only becase I stopped eating beef years ago so ignored anything made from beef. I was in Spain a few months ago and sort of fucked up my order and was served the wafer thin slices of beef topped with all sorts of stuff. I had my reservations about the beefy aspect of the dish but after a mouthful I nommed the full plate :D.

I dont have the confidence to make this at home or would do it again - pretty much the same as raw fish !
 
EDIT>>>>good steak tartare if= fucking lush Shambles, really, used to eat it in Poland regular as a starter to a night on the beer and vodka...fillet beef shaped round a raw egg yolk...some chopped raw onion, gherkin...salt and pepper, just scrape a bit into the raw yolf, bit of onion and gherkin, fucking hesven, got to be fillet though....

I don't do chicken periods, MM. The rest sounds nice but am guessing the egg yolk is rather intrinsic so no can do. Eggy taste makes me projectile vomit :(

Couldn't finish my cherry crumble and custard. :(

Am a-hankering after crumble 'n' custard since I bought a tub of custard powder. Got a few tins of assorted fruit that do nowt but lurk menacingly at the back of me cupboard that look like likely crumble candidates. Need to get me some flour though. Have saved some choccy Alpen to add to crumble topping cos I suspect it would make a fine addition.
 
Thread has been going 2 months and is halfway to being a new thread already.

If that doesn't illustrate the piss-poor drug world of the UK today, I don't know what does.

Bugger that, just weigh them all through as carrots on the self serve and they're yours for under a quid. But shhhh, don't say i told you.

I've had a roast chicken, with a mushroom, broadbean and parmesan risotto, and a load of rocket (bought, in a bag :( too early for our homegrown yet)
 
Oh man if I had the space...!

Was going to make egg burgers but had no bread/bread buns so instead went for two crusty bread rolls, fried the mince up in various spices, made some scrambled eggs, cooked the bread, and chucked it all on top of it with some cheese and hash browns thrown in for good measure. Tis bloody lovely and pretty much just what I needed.

Did you spend over a grand on beef DSP :D 8o Thats a lot of cow. Does it work out an economical way to do it?

Really want cheese on toast but somethings telling me loading my body up with cholesterol calories & carbs at 2am isn't wise.

You can buy a cow ready for butchering for around £800, but who has the space to butcher a whole cow.. Plus, once it's been shipped to you, you get lots of dry ice to play with..

I roasted a chicken yesterday... it was amazing. Superheated lemon in the cavity just prior to going into the oven, small nicks in the breast flesh into which slivers of garlic and sprigs of rosemary were jammed. Rubbed in butter, heavily salted and peppered, served with roast carrots, roast onions, broccoli and soda bread.

DSP's beef looks fuckin' gorgeous.
