Some fine tunes in here tonight. Good-o!

Talking Heads - Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On) - possibly my favourite track off my favourite album of theirs... although they're all so damn good it's hard to say for sure... almost certainly this one... really is remarkably good.

Shane McGowan & Friends - I Put a Spell on You - Shane McGowan, Nick Cave & Bobby Gillespie all on the same track - blimey 8o

Grinderman - No Pussy Blues (Live on Joolz) - not surprised you cowered as he passed by, Fug, I tend to cower simply watching PooToob clips 8o

<3

Jay Reatard - Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle (Nirvana cover)

Saw him twice before he died. Amazing performer.

Saw him too. Amazing show. RIP

Take It Or Leave It - The Strokes (lyrics)

The Strokes - Heart in a cage (Lyrics)

Someday -The strokes (lyrics)

The Strokes- You Only Live Once (lyrics) did they just totally steal Queens' I Want To Break Free bouncy melodic bass line and rhythm for their intro ? I was waiting for Freddy Mercury to break out with "I want to break free", The Strokes were cheeky fuckers for copying that, oh well they did at least use the intro to completely original next bit.. Oh well, everything else of theirs is very original afaik. Someone on youtube reckons heart in a a cage is an iggy pop rip off, i have to assume that she means the verses sound similar to The Passenger, and its only vaguely similar, so much so that it could be completely accidental:? The Chorus is amazing, love the drum crashing. fanstastic stuff.

Is This It - The Strokes (lyrics)

The Kills - Baby Says

Soma - The Strokes HQ (Lyrics)

Jennifer she said - Lloyd Cole and the Commotions as below, great stuff. Those spangly jangly guitars would sound awesome on G and stims, but i have to quit that shit soon, my heart is not feeling good after long stim sessions. Tonight it was just hash and benzos, very pleasant, really adds to the sound, and no nasty w/ds from hash!

Lloyd Cole And The Commotions - Lost Weekend a fine example of a great very British mid 80s indie style tune, great voice too, lovely eccentric and laugh out loud funny lyrics too. <3

Prefab Sprout - When Love Breaks Down

Shy Girl Sings "Jolene" UNEXPECTED THING HAPPEN! - X Factor having never watched the x factor before, im shocked to discover that this is perhaps the best cover out there, certainly the best vocal performance ive heard.

(She doesnt '"over sing" it either imo, apart from just one or 2 bits where one vowel is turned into many, which can ruin any track if there's too much of this imo) She has a complete horrific technical malfunction 30 seconds into the song, but has bags of composure to easily to put it behind her and carry on with the tracks when the feedback stops.

All 3 judges were in total admiration even before this, but were completely in shock and awe immediately she recovered and picked up the song afterwards. Whatever became of this girl i wonder. (the answer was on the you tube comments - she's had just rewards)

The White Stripes - 'Jolene' quite amazing the power that a 2 piece band can create

Dolly Parton - Jolene (High Quality) sound

Smack The Pony - so funny; a tea break at work turns singing contest sketch. It still makes me laugh after about 10 back to back views.

I Think the version you posted was amazing considering the Meg and Jack had split up at that stage and its still emotional.

I'm also a fiend for good guitar <3

Good find xx

MDB, Are you a musician by chance? Or just an amazing fiend

i was in a band from 16-18, but im a failing musician, i tried the drums (just the basic Heavy Rock 4/4 as in zz tops gimme all your loving, which we practiced to at school, and the base drum or snare on the off counts) and the base, became ok-ish on the base, ironically, years after i was in a band, im a great air drummer and air guitarist of all kinds though:\, then i chopped the tip of my left hand forefinger in a gardening accident, whcih does not make playing my favourite instrument, the acoustic guitar any easier, before that accident i was getting quick and nimble with my left hand chord changes etc, but my strumming was woefull, now im returning to try ayd pcik it up again after a gap of many years, and strangely my strumming is way better than it was, but those things that needs lots of practice, like speed of accuracy of left hand for chords and finger picking etc. also right hand need practice for that obs too, but i used to be ok at quickly finding the righht place for my left hand fingers and getting a nice clean sound ringing out, so hoping it somes back fairly quick, ive rememebered a few chord progerssions i can do pretty well, but i really struggle with some of simplest of things now like changing from g major to d major or osmthing, so embarrasing, its like my fingers have forgotten how to obey my brain for that chord change, but i will persevere unless frustartion gets the better of me. With so msuch on you tubenow theers the chance to learnr lie never before.

Im also a fiend for the music of my teens and 20s, and my 'second youth' from 38-42 y/o or something, which happened when pre-ban mephedrone was easily available and gave me a whole new appetite for music. I need to try and fill in some of the several year gaps in my musical knowledege :o ive ben smoking quite a lot of hash, taking lots of stims and g recently too, which is almsot as good as meph for music listening imo, and has accounted for the marathon long sesions and mega posts, and also discovering and likeing new stuff fmor my ears, its a while since ive been that adventurous. :\:|:o

Obviously the gereat thing about hash is that it can not only make music sound way better than normal, but it can also help quit the nastier habits like g and stims, which are/were getting a bit problematic. But my thinking has been moving like a glacier over the last 6 months, i think its finally shifted to a stage that im finally ready to try quitting stims and g too.

tldr; sorry, im a shit musician, i do love music, but lts of substance beingeing over recent months has accounted for practically all of the marathon long 12 - 24 listening seesions and mega posts.
