(in hindsight perhaps no surprise my mother was convinced I was gay right up until my late teens :o) Must say they do work rather well together... but then I am a sucker for a mashup :o

I <3 Nick Cave <3

<3

ORLY, Nick Cave is it now, Thought you said it was me earlier ;)

It's okay, My mother thought I was gay too. Perfect puzzle pieces. xxx <3

Nicky Thomas: Is it because I'm black?

You just dont see these kind of intense and soulful performances anymore, one thing that connect most of the most intense artists is their suicide or drugs O/d early on their career. Nicky Thomas is no exception.

Midlake - Rulers, ruling all things amazing track <3<3

This is rapidly becoming my favorite album right now, i llove having an album i can listen to from end to end and enjoy every track. Now that is even rarer these days. Even though it was released about 8 years ago, i couldnt get into it on first listen and then i forgot about it. :\ That 8 year break has definitely done the trick cos now all the songs sound amazing on first listen, all have a smilar format, a lyrical intro, then an amazing instrumental break or 2 to finish. Their tracks are quite haunting, some may find them melancholic, but not me, they are timeless tracks, and arguably a more rocky, classic, and a very accomplished sound.

Midlake - Winter Dies there is an awesome intrumental intro and musical break just after 1:50 and an even better one @ 03:25

Midlake - Children Of The Grounds 8o<3

Midlake - Head Home (album version) (from their previous 2007 album, though arguably it has a more mature sound, definitely far more melodic, moving away from indie to more Adult Orientienated Rock, could be a fleetwood mac penned track, its thats good, they are that good.

Midlake - The courage of others the tune, and opening verse lyrics are stunning. 8o

Midlake - Bring Down

Midlake - Small Mountain not the easiest or quickest of tracks to get into, but now that i finally have, it's incredibly good. 8o<3

MIDLAKE - ROSCOE 8o:)

Afaik one of the only 2 great bands from Texas, the other being the more 'patchy' and in and out of the zone, and fashion; ZZ Top.

Discharge - State Violence State Control thats got some adrenalin flowing. ;)

I saw Nick Cave / Grinderman's first show in the UK, it was amazeballs. He walked right past me and I cowered in fear at his towering coolness. 8(

Similarly my mother also thought I was homosexual as a teenager.

'No mum, I just creep girls out' :!

America - Simon & Garfunkel

dunno what ii is with me and simon and garfunkel covers these days, i guess their songs were so good to begin with. I find it tragic that people this good are collecting 17,000 views over 9 years whilst various cretins on The Voice become famous overnight, not that their fame lasts long. This guy gives the track some real balls, whilst retaining its original acosutic roots. <3

The Airborne Toxic Event- Sometime Around Midnight

The Offspring - Gone Away

The B-52's 52 Girls that guitar sound does not get old ever. Fucking love the way it chimes along.

Silversun Pickups - Well Thought Out Twinkles (video) talking about chimes/harmonics, these are awesome.

Silversun Pickups - Lazy Eye (Official Video) incredibly catchy indie anthem, should have been way bigger. Any similarities in sound to the smashing pumpkins are merely superficial imo.

ZZ Top-Rough Boy beautiful track <3 they should chop out the first bit of the guitar solo though, cos it does not seem to fit into the song at all, its like wrong track being played at first, but it all turns good pretty soon. Some of the best mid '80s soft rock, coming from a band that could also really rock out, all on the same album too. Impressive to this day.

heres the proof, 9/10 youtubers saying this is easly best zz tops best track, hidden away, the solsos are out of this world, compliments the simplest but most effective of basslines. Some going to far as to say its the greatest blues track in the history of rock. Cant think of a better one right now i must admit.

ZZ Top - I Need You Tonight

i like this YT quote Re this track; Bill Jackson4 months ago
"I NEED YOU TONIGHT by ZZ TOP is a classic Rock & Roll jam. You have to really appreciate music in all forms. And these cats were in a zone when they made this.!"

"Very underrated track! One of their best tracks!"

"Pure Rock and Roll the way it was meant to be done"

"One of my favorite ZZTop songs. I love the whole album."

"One of the greatest, underplayed ZZ's there was!"

"This is my fav & the best song I think they wrote, that fit their style!"

The Alarm - The Day The Ravens Left The Tower i think this track more than any of their others perhaps, drew a lot of the bitter U2 comparisons, as the alrm do sound a lot like early u2 here, at the stage of their careers iirc, many alarm afns hated that u2 became so huge, whilst the alarm didnt, perhaps selfishly i was always quite glad that the alarm di not become that huge, and remain pretty obscure

Father to Son by The Alarm

The Alarm Walk Forever By My Side got me like a dagger in the heart, i am moved beyond words. <3

The Alarm _ Spirit of '76 hauntingly beautiful intro, it stays good too, very emotional guy mike peters, not just his lyrics but the way he sang them. I guess The Alarm are one of those marmite bands, i love marmite though.<3:\

ZZ Top - Got me under Pressure [HD] [Studio Version]

She likes wearin' lipstick, she likes French cuisine
But she won't let me use my passion unless it's in a limousine.

She got me under pressure, 2x

She likes the art museum, she don't like Pavlov's dog.
She fun at the mind museum, she likes it in a London fog.
She don't like other women, she likes whips and chains.
She likes cocaine and filppin' out with great Danes.
She's about all I can handle, it's too much for my brain.

It's got me under pressure, 2x

I'm gonna give her a message,
Here's what I'm gonna say:
"It's all over."
She might get out a nightstick
And hurt me real real bad
By the roadside in a ditch.

It's got me under pressure, 2x

Rage Against the Machine - Bullet in the Head (Official Music Video)

(U2) One - Gabriella Quevedo i think this girl is one of the very best on youtube and doing these acoustic covers, with often quite a different take on the original, i just think she's amazingly talented. I wonder if she will turn professional. She doesnt seem to be enjoying playing as much as usual when she recorded that, thats usually one of the best hings about watching her, her enjoyment and beginnings of loosing herself in the music, i still feel she's a liile shy and slef conscious, she may remain that kind of 'professioalism' or she may not. Either way as long as she keeps releasing new stuff all is good, i wonder what she thought of the requests i sent her, i bet sh e gets hundreds, and prbly ignored them, we'll see.
