Pretty lucky atm, i seem to have recently discovered loads of artists who were new to me, so that i can spread them out, rather than play them to death, and kill the songs. It must have been all the mega-sessions. Glad that they proved very fruitful, at least for me. Haven't found many others who like Midlake yet, although Birdy is proving unsurprisingly popular on Facebook.
MIDLAKE - ROSCOE A more rocky sound here. No one can say that Midlake don't vary the style of their tracks. %)
Midlake - Rulers, ruling all things More of a late 60s / 70s vibe here? I wouldn't be at all surprised if Midlake had listened to a lot of The Byrds (reminds me heavily of The Byrds, with the vocal style and the music itself) before and during the times they worked on developing their own music. Gets increasingly powerful and even a bit eerie after they switch from acoustic to electric guitar.
Midlake - Winter Dies some amazing instrumental "rock outs" to add great variety to the 'quiet bits', even the final instrumental break has a totally differnt sound, not quite sure if its really sad, or quietly euphoric. They are very difficult to 'pin down' maybe i should not bother trying, and just enjoy the music.
Midlake - The courage of others stunning.
Midlake - Children of the Grounds Their sound is fully updated here, they rock, I'm not sure if it's an Ode To Suicide or not, with lyrics like this
"There were too many years
Under spells awry
As the fortune appears
It begins to die
So I've come here to wait
For the end of it all
Till I'm gone from here
I'm gone from here"
Midlake - In The Ground a much more folk rock sound here
Midlake - Small Mountain a slow grower, that finally reveals a powerful and beautiful track.
Midlake - Core Of Nature as above, really.
Thurisaz - Endless these sound a bit like Midlake too, but a much more heavy metal sound. Quite impressive. %)
Hotel California - Gabriella Quevedo Her intro goes on for about 2 minutes, and then she starts playing the track with new rhythms etc, using many different styles; finger picking, more jazzy styles, some soloing, and she also lets those chords ring out openly, an amazing talent imo. Most impressive is her obvious enjoyment of playing the track. %)
(Joan Osborne) One Of Us - Gabriella Quevedo one of my favorite acoustic covers ever, just so beautiful.
(Metallica) Nothing Else Matters - Gabriella Quevedo %)
(Michael Jackson) Billie_Jean - Gabriella Quevedo
(ABBA) Dancing Queen - Gabriella Quevedo
(U2) One - Gabriella Quevedo
Silversun Pickups- Lazy Eye (with lyrics) Incredibly brilliant track, so glad i found it.
