Seeing Peter Hook play this one live was like ....holy shit! 😍 @Bleaney

Was anyone on here lucky enough to see Joy Division back in the day?

I can imagine. Peter Hook and the Light sound great. I saw them one night in Manchester a few years ago, but the venue was so packed that I could literally not find a single spot to settle and watch the band and ended up getting stressed out and failed to be able to relax and enjoy the gig.

I think their great sound is partly their unique thing of having 2 bass guitarists in the band with Hooky playing what would have more conventionally been lead guitar parts on his bass, it gives them a unique and interesting sound. Especially if you like to hear more bass guitar as I do.

I was born a bit too late for Joy Division. I'd only have been 10 years old by the time Ian Curtis died. But lived through Many of New Orders releases as they came out. Although tbh I didnt properly appreciate them until many years later.

This especially epic, powerful, stunning, dramatic and dynamic piece of music came out during a particularly dark period of my life and also a dark time of year.

I'd just get a pure natural high off the energy of this song every time and it lifted many a dark morning and day for me.

They are a local band, this was their breakthrough single after plodding away for 17 years they have now broken through to the big time. THis track got loads of local radio play for very obvious reasons.

Great stuff.

Fuck nothing worse!! They do sound amazing live though eh! I also love New Order one of my favourite bands even altho they're technically before my time.

Someone sent me this I'm enjoying:

When @ageingpartyfiend tries to clash the mighty system known as "Zopi boi" as he should know my sound just slay any sound boi. I take no rassclart prisoners.

"Hey sound boi ya sound rusty like a tin can, do the dance a favour and put yourself in a fridge and push yourself off London Bridge"

"Bludclart, gone murder the whole dance, Bludclart!!!!!!!"

I cannot believe how much this record remains well within their wheelhouse but still sounds fresh - it was 18 years ago (summer 2004) since I last saw them perform at the Brixton Academy (following the release of the Blue album and advertised at the the time as their last ever London show before the bro's went their separate ways - at least for a few years anyhoo...)

(EDIT: Ps - I love how they worked all the dialogue in from 'The World in Action' doc on AH)

Slap yourself on YouTube. Have a look for Ben Howard’s live lounge cover of “Call Me Maybe” judge that chemistry, and the video. Did he nob her?

Definitely something more than a wink happened after that.
