Spiritualized tear me down the middle. On the one hand, how can you not like a band who made Medication. On the other, every tune they make that mentions Jesus makes me vomit just one more time....

Also, don't go hiring expensive gospel choirs while you pay your band peanuts Mr Pierce.

But yeah. Love em mostly. Sometimes.

I used to say that the only thing that stood a chance of leading me to god was Jason's music.

I was kinda chuffed when I read (his latest, I think) interview for the Guardian (or maybe not, t'was fairly recent anyways) that he only really refs Jesus in a rock n roll sense ... and not literally.

It's not like his music could be any better than it already is for me ... but yeah, it actually took away any doubts I ever had about him. and it made everything just a little more perfect.

Saw them twice this year, and each one was a religious experience - and I don't believe in Jebus

yeah, I get yer, I'm the same. Although I need to see them again because the one and only time I've seen them was at manchester a year or so back, on the Ladies and Gentlemen rerelease, where they played the whole album. It really didn't work with the venue unfortunately. They were great, and packing a full orchestra (like SHM mentions above ... they made a loss on that tour too .. way too expensive to put on the whole thing like that), but being seated at a gig is not my thing, and it was more of a theatre setting and was just too frustrating for words to just be sat in chair unable to get up. EVERYONE was seated. was a truly bizarre situation for me really

I've only had religious experiences at two bands' gigs: Killing Joke and My Bloody Valentine.

Killing Joke is about as close to a gig being like a ritual, or at times a rave - the energy's there and you feel like part of a tribe. Whch is rare, espcially for a bunch of older geezeers.

So shamelesly, here are te same four young men who recorded the original, back together nearly thirty years on and more furious than the first time round. Showing that you don't have to lose your fire in middle age. Inspiring, hypnotic, stirring shit:

Killing Joke - Requiem (Duende)

Swans? They split in 1996.

Primal Scream live on BBC6. Stonking version of Shoot Speed/Kill Light.

Last great song they recorded, and that was Sumner's doing. ;)

Al-Qaeda Pet Shop Boys in anti-American disco anthem shocker:

Killing Joke - European Superstate

Sam posted ; didn't listen: Europe is great and should rise up against occupation, NATO, Hollywood etc. With the aid of a funky bassline from Youth.
