What are you growing?

Out of 30 or so strains I've tried, gotta vote for my own concoction of Femaleseeds GrapefruitxSweettooth#3. Fast flower,dense, gets you fucked up every time(although it takes like 10 minutes to kick in)
 
Been smoking for a year or two now..and have had an aching desire to grow after seeign my friends parents plants...so i started saving seeds and didnt do anything with them.

Got drunk a few nights back and thought, what the hell, and started some seeds sprouting.
I live with my rents' so indoor's out of the question, so sorta looking for some advice for a first time outdoor plant...probably going to try two to start just in case, and as someone said above quality isn't really the no.1 priority...just want to grow a plant :)

Interesting, have u ran anyting else from Female? Ive heard good things about them, and they're fairly cheap for seeds.

in the name of harm reduction... Yes you can, but the odds of you being able to afford the equipment to pull it off are minimal.
I guess if you're very handy and have access to tools and wouldnt be seen maybe.

Still after smell, u have noise from the fans.

Now this i will totally answer, cause thats the very way i started out growing 10 years ago now. I love the troll earlier in the thread who just assumed this was my first grow and i only had this place.

First off all, I understand you only want to grow 1 plant, but unless you starting with feminized seed, which i really don't recommend. While ive personally had good experience, i have friends locally that had bad Hermi issues.

Anyways, back to my original point, your growing from seed, you have a 50/50 chance of having a female. A male is very useless to the average grower. Only males worth anything are good males, like the SSH F2 i put into flower the other day, if thats a male i'm saving his pollen for sure... which requires me putting him completly away from the ladies, to do his thing. If his bust his nut in the flower room... especially in a perpetual setup, you're fucked.

So plant 3 or 4 plants minimum, The other thing is outside you're going to have alot of stuff stealing your plants... mostly animals. Ideally you'd have 3-4 different locations, not right next to each other with 3 or 4 plants in each. I always read plant 3 crops, one for yourself, one for rippers/cops and one for the animals.

edit: marry christmast stoners: First two pics are the exact same strain, just two totally different phenos, the purple one smelled/tasted/grew like mom, i didnt grow out the dad, but i imagine the green/bigger one grew like dad.

The green one yielded nearly 18 grams on one cola, prob 15 without the stem.

hehe, brainstorming last night and decided i would plant three (germinated three seeds) in semi separate locations, but i might throw a few more in for extra measure.

With the animals etc, is it worth investing in some natural pesticides or something? Also, i was thinking start them in a pot and transfer to the ground? Or would i just grow in a pot the whole time?

Especially if you're just starting out, it'd be a good idea to start at least 3 for every 1 you want to finish. 50% males get cut, you may kill another or animals might eat it etc. If the seeds are free or cheap start a good number of extras - you can always kill some if you end up with too many.

Natural (or chemical) pesticides can help against bugs, but they don't help if a deer thinks it's lunch. Plus you don't want to smoke the residue even if it's organic. Only real way to protect against big animals is a fence or a tomato cage, but those are far from a guarantee. And of course it's not stealthy.

If you use a big enough pot and aren't dealing with many plants leaving it in the pot (5 gal is a good size for outdoor) can be a lifesaver if you ever end up needing to move it. To make it stealthier, dig a hole and put the pot inside it.

^^^ that sucks has he ever seen you token? man that would blow cuz i go out in my front yard and hit the bong all the time. i dont advertize that im smokin but i def dont really hide it. my nieghboors are kool they are nice and never say anything about me smokin. by the way i actually have a decent-good relationship with all my nieghboors and talk with them regularly and have had dinner with a few a time or two so i dont worry about them callin the cops on me just for smokin. so if that were me and i lived next door to a cop i would feel caged in if i couldnt go out and rip a couple on my front pourch. is he a nice guy? ne ways if he isnt then i feel for you

He's not a dick, I've been to 2 cookouts at his house this summer so far (gotta love free food and beer from the enemy;)), and its a decriminalized state so I'm not too concerned about getting caught with 2g or something stupid like that, but it has given tripping at home a very claustrophobic feel...
 
i get really jealous whenever i read threads with people mentioning all of their amazing strains.

it might just be because of the people i associate with to obtain my marijuana but 9 times out of 10 they wouldn't be able to tell me what strain it was, which sucks because it makes smoking it way cooler somehow if you know what kind it is.
 
Masteryoda213... I've ran their Northern Lights too, grew real nice but the buzz to me was nothing special. The Grapefruit was just plain awesome, so I decided to make some seeds from her with sweettooth#3. I think the cross made it a little heavier high, but still awesome. I hope they release Grapefruit again SOON. And yes, from my experience feminized seeds will hermie if you mistreat them-- but I never got more than like 5 seeds out of a Gfruit plant. My worst hermie plant bar none was Paradises' Nebula, almost every female grew some balls and seeded everything else I was growing. The winners that truly stand out in my head are: Black Spice(gave me nods!); Blue apollo(best tasting ever); certain C99's; double strawberry diesel; and Grapefruit. Most disappointing was AK99, had more than a few females that wouldn't get anyone high at all.
 
OK...bought some pots, some General potting mix and some perlite...Ive had some seeds in wet cotton buds for nearly 2 weeks..will they still be alright? they are starting to sprout sort of..

So im thinking maybe 1 part perlite to 2 or 3 parts potting mix? Will this work alright?

Growing Sharksbreath by DNA genetics, just finished a Northern Soul grow, and I am currently smoking that.
