I have a prescription to the IR and ER versions of adderall both being 20 mg. I've been very curious to the effects of combining the two forms of the drug and the possible health risk. I would assume the IR would boost the ER and then level out. Is this correct and what other combination of the two could be beneficial to someone with a very chaotic and every changing schedule. It seems like my highs are never when i need them and juggling two jobs and full time college demands consistency. I know I should take them as directed, ER in the morning and IR after that wears off but what are my other possible options? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Why don't you try ER in the morning and in the afternoon ? Maybe that's the way you need to work well. As for taking the too of them (IR and ER) at the same time, that should make the effects last longer and be a bit stronger, but then you would not have anything to end the day with. What are you looking for ? Do you want recreational effects (that would be both of your prescriptions in one run), or do you want soft effects all day long ? If your highs are "never when you need them", well, take the IR before a heavy work, and keep the rest (ER) for another time.
Maybe taking IR in the morning and ER in the afternoon would make a better option for you ?

We can't hold your hand through this and guess your schedule and what works for you. Different people need very different doses of amps and you aren't in any health danger unless you are in the 100mg+ range. Mixing IR and ER will do exactly what you expect.

Basically if you take as directed you are kept on an even keel all day, and then when that starts to fade the IR brings you back to where you need to be.

If you take the IR and ER both together, then you could expect a higher quicker peak, but a crash later in the day. That's not very productive for school or work either.

Whatever you decide to do though, be safe and know your tolerance.
