What are some qualities that differentiate Shrooms from LSD

This isn't a thread aimed toward finding what differences in visuals they have. I am fairly experienced with LSD, I will be taking mushrooms for the first time very soon. What should I expect? I'm aware they're are very very similar drugs, but what DOES tell them apart? I become very clear headed and scholarly on acid, I've heard shrooms are not too far from the opposite of that, is this true? Is the anxiety worse, should i be wary of this topic? This thread is to inform me of what to expect and possibly be careful of on magic mushrooms.

I always found the headspace on Cubes even at high doses ( 40g fresh ) to be very clear and lucid, perfectly rational with good focus. Moreso than I found acid which was more likely to cause confusion and paranoia IME, though it's worth mentioning I'd always tend to smoke weed when i was doing acid, not so much when I was doing Cubes, so obviously have to take that into account. Liberty Caps seemed quite different to Cubes, with greater potential for confusion and disorientation on the come-up, and slightly different in character generally IME. Easier to get into 'OMG I'm dying' bad trip territory with Liberty Caps, though I can't explain why. Some will tell you shrooms are shrooms and psilocybin is psilocybin but there were very distinct qualitative differences to Cubes IME. Mushrooms generally have a more organic, natural feel with a better body high than acid for me, which always felt quite alien and synthetic. The effects of acid and shrooms are of course very subjective, some preferring acid, some like me preferring mushrooms. You'll just have to find out which camp you fall into for yourself. Enjoy them! Not had mushrooms for far too long. :(

Acid tends to be more of an experience you can navigate with your thoughts, while shrooms moreso just happen to you. I think set and setting has a much greater effect on a mushroom trip. They can bring you to much darker places than lsd, and feel more scattered, but the positive insights seem to last alot longer afterwards. This may just be me tho.

i agree with shrooms feeling less synthetic and more "smooth" with a GREAT body high. i find that shrooms make my mind bounce around everywhere, while lsd at least gives me the illusion that im in control of my thoughts. i do prefer the naturals :)

IME and I would say generally, shrooms are less clear-headed and less stimulating. They also move in waves of mental clarity and then more sedating moments when they feel almost dreamlike.

LSD feels more synthetic and "technical" (although this isn't always a bad thing), shrooms feel more down to earth. When I trip on acid, I reach for the sky, when I trip on shrooms, I embrace mother earth.

Regarding anxiety, it's individual, but LSD is more prone to produce anxiety for me, probably because it is more stimulating. Shrooms have a comfy feeling that LSD lacks, a feeling of "coming home" where you are at total peace with yourself. Also the megalomanic feelings and thoughts I sometimes get on acid are not present with mushrooms.

^The dream-like waves on mushrooms is right but I'd tend to drift off into my own little world on acid too, just lying back with eyes closed exploring the visual landscape so pretty similar for me in that respect, though acid was always a more active 'lets go out and do something' kinda trip thanks to the stimulation, yeah. Agreed on acid being more technical. Feels more abstract, the sense of self being more that of a detached and coldly logical independent observer for sure, shrooms being a lot more grounded and tending towards a more emotionally connected kind of thinking.

Always found mushrooms a lot more emotional than LSD. Gentler on the body and a quick comedown so you can get to sleep without the 16 hours of restlessness post-peak on acid.

^Yeah, Cubes especially come down really fast with tea. Tripping with visuals to more or less base level with none and ready to sleep in half an hour. Takes a bit longer eating them, but no more than an hour. Not so with acid. There's a dirty stimulation thing going long after the visuals / mental stuff stops.

Well I was unaware shrooms didn't have the speedy feeling as acid does. I was under the impression almost all true psychedelics had that. But thanks for that info.

What I really want to know is, since I have social anxiety, will shrooms be any different in affecting me? When I take LSD I tend to get pretty intense anxiety (although its nothing I can't handle), so will it be any different with mushrooms?

You could definitely have more anxiety with mushrooms than on acid. Acid puts you in a much clearer headspace, while mushrooms can give you a fuzzy mind and body buzz. I think you are much more prone to paranoia with mushrooms

As some of the other posters have already pointed out, acid tends to be more analytical and clear-headed, while mushrooms are more intuitive and primal. How this will translate into anxiety around people is hard to predict, however, and really depends on the underlying source of the anxious feelings. On mushrooms, it's easier to get freaked out on a basic, animal level because strangers are just animals from a different herd, who smell funny and shouldn't be trusted. On acid, it's easier to let your thoughts spiral out of control and to get worried because no one around you seems real or because it's all of a sudden obvious that all of the interactions that you used to interpret positively were actually just a pretense used by your friends to manipulate or control you.

IME, acid can really screw you over much harder than mush because the bad trip can seep into your consciousness in such a subtle way that it's difficult to understand what's happening and be mindful of the implications, but YMMV.
