What an earth is this?!

In the local area (SW UK) there is this rocky crystalline stuff being sold as mdma.
It comes in big opaque, off white (slightly pinky-brown) rocky slabs like its been seen before but is extremely crumbly (wet, unfinished cook?) and a bit moist. But when it crumbles it goes to a fine white crystalline powder. These fine crystal cover the rocks making it look white but when they get brushed off the pinky-yellow can be seen underneath. The rocks arent fully translucent like I've seen before but I guess this could be due to the dampness...?
What strikes me as oddest, though, is that upon tasting it you get met with an *extremely* sweet taste, lasting a few seconds which then turns into typical dirty chemically bitterness.
It smells faintly like sweet TCP (antiseptic) which struck me. As it has been drying out the smell (and sweetness) have faded - maybe some solvent/intermediate hadnt been washed out or evaporated off?
It's from a usually reliable source who knows his shit, which if it wasn't for the sweetness I would have no doubt in it being mandy.
Heard one guy saying he came up but with no euphoria and that it only lasted half an hour, though I cannot vouch for the duration myself. Someone else said it numbed their tongue ever so slightly/made it feel weird after a dab.
It seems there's a big drought in Britain at the moment, so it could be something similar (like 4-mec or 5meo) passed off as md, or that it is md but the cook did a shit job to get it out in a hurry due to high demand.
I'll endeavor to get a picture today, but I will probably end up trying it tonight and will report back with the results.

tl;dr - sweet tasting crystal/powder with (alleged) short duration, what could it be?

I would buy a test kit but I don't really have the time to wait a week for it to be delivered and a marquis would only really tell me if it's mdxx (by going purple/black) or something else (by going a different colour) and I cannot really afford both marquis then a Simon's reagent to further distinguish it. I just really wanted to know what could account for the sweet taste, if it is legit stuff or whether there is anything else that fits the bill.
And I read the forum rules which just said "no pill IDs" or to "ask in your regional forums", which maybe I should do, but as I'm asking what could look like mdma but tastes sweet I see no relevancy to the regional limitations that come with pills. Also couldn't see anything on IDing in the BLUA so apologies if I've missed anything regarding that!

Maybe if I edited the post to ask "what tastes sweet, smells like tcp and looks like md" as I would then not be asking for an identification of anything, just suggestions of random chems which fit the description.
It's all very odd, but this illustrates how regulation would stop shit like this happening!

Why would you need a Simons? There really is no chance that is MDA... not a good chance, at least. That's all the Simons is really useful for anyways.




You need a testing kit, end of story. The Marquis can detect a very WIDE range of substances, don't be stingy and put your health at risk just because you can't wait a week for shipping. Substance ID is not allowed, that's that. No one can tell you what you have without having it tested, taste is NOT an accurate way to identify chemicals. Typically MDMA is said to have a very bitter taste, however. "Sweet" is not a word commonly used to describe the taste of safrole-derived chemicals.



I would be extremely cautious with that, however. I've never come across MDMA like that.
