I was prescribed Ambien last week, and the shit just doesnt work for me.

I always take my pills on an empty stomach (at least 4 hours after I've eaten) and I always eat something around 45 mins afterwards to push the pill down in my intestines. They're the regular 10mg, not the time release stuff.

The first day, at 5:30 I ate one Ambien and snorted another. I didn't feel anything until around 8:00, when I just felt incredibly uncomfortable and forced myself to go to sleep, but not because I was sleepy. It was incredibly hard to get to sleep and I only slept for 4 hours.

The second day, I swallowed two, snorted one. Okay, like a minute or two after snorting that one I felt like I was on an upper, but then it wore off and I felt nothing. Not even sleepy.

Day three, I snort two. Again, I was wired for like half an hour, but other than that, I have yet to feel any euphoria.

This morning I wake up, say fuck it, and swallow 5 Ambien, then ate an omellette 45 minutes later. Here I am, 4 hours later, sober as fuck, not even sleepy.

Am I doing anything wrong? Or will my body just not respond to this chemical? I've been sober for like 7 months, so I can't have any prior tolerances. I also have some DXM w/ 1.4% alcohol and Diphenhydramine that I'd be willing to mix with it, but the Diphenhydramine makes me overwhelmingly tired, and DXM really isn't that fun.

Ambien is an awful, toxic drug. It is the only drug that I have built a tolerance too and it happens in days. You are better off not taking it.

You wont find ANY fun of recreational use of ambian. And WTF do you take 50mg on the morning when u just woke up >.< ???

I used ambian for 4 month now and when you take it and WANT to stay awake it just dont work. This drugs will not knock you out. Or you need to take a lot ( well 50mg is a lot ok... ) But when you take it everyday , about 3-4 days after you have a HUGGE tolerance.

Take it when you need it. at medical dosage. Dont try to get fun of this by snorting it or whatever.

Best method for me is: I go to bed, wait 15-20min until im a bit tired AND THEN I take the ambien. And the 30 min after that im on sleep and it just take about 1 hrs.

And donc forget ambien kick in 10-15min and work only for 2-3hrs.

If those doses aren't helping you to sleep I think you'd be better off without it. There is almost no recreational value to it.

As others have said, tollerance builds very quickly, and you could find yourself addicted to a substance that isn't even doing anything good for you.

Ambien, just no good.
TRazadone 200mg puts me to sleep, I Rx wellbutrin 450mg plus ?
It wont take you down if your way wound up, but will slow ya down.
BEST-SONATA, It is for waking mid sleep, wake take nghty-nite.
Its very good putting to rest the mind.

Some people just don't respond to ambien (like me). Lunesta works much better for me, but for some lunesta has no effect and ambien does wonders for them. Everyone reacts differently to the Z-class drugs.

Am I the only one that enjoys the feelings of ambien? I get some nice ketamine-like visuals, feel very floaty and have this prolonged sense of interconnectedness in everything that's happening. Hard to explain, but divine.

don't get me wrong, recreational use of ambien can be great, but like was stated before, a lot of people just don't respond to ambien.
try not eating after taking it either. just swallow the shit instead of snorting it. you can try removing the coating of the pill before taking it. and wait awhile before you try again. i am also prescribed ambient and even when taking it as recommended, i have to take a few nights off of it about every week to avoid the tolerance. also, take it when you're already getting tired.

Thanks everyone, next appt with my psychiatrist I'll ask about getting something different. I tried seroquel once and it knocked me out for like 16 hours so maybe I can mention that.

As for why I ate them immediately after waking up... well, I'm not a fan of being awake. Sleep is my escape.

Sorry to hear, I hope everything is okay and that you can get this issue sorted out. If there's anything you feel like you need someone to talk to about post here, and I'd be more than happy to discuss it with you.

Unfortunately since you are in greenlighter status you wouldn't be able to PM, but just post here if the issues aren't too personal.

Godspeed, and I hope things get better for you. :)

for a short period of time I was taking it to have this kind of floaty feeling and it lowered my social anxiety. But it worked for like 3 days and stopped.

But it is not as nasty as Zopiclone for me and work better. zopi are just useless for me. I have to try Lunesta now..

ambien never made me tired. you probably just don't respond well to it like me. friends in college who liked to "trip" on it, if you can call it that, always had to try really hard to stay awake. i tried it a few times and didn't make me tired whatsoever. ive always had horrible insomnia though. my therapist then wanted me to try lunesta, although it also did nothing.

so he finally scripted me klonopin for my extreme sleeping / anxiety / panic problems... ahhh finally got some rest for once. i love benzos. they work so much better for insomnia than ambien and other bullshit sleeping pills. but eventually my anxiety got so much worse because of the benzos so i kicked them... god is benzo addiction one of the worst, glad to be free of that... but now i still cant sleep.

maybe a benzo would work well for you. they really are amazing for sleep. and they obviously arent hit or miss like ambien and lunesta, they're sure to make anyone drowsy. and i would stay away from seroquil if i were you it has a nassstyyy hangover.

What you are doing wrong is trying to get high off that shit. Are you trying to kill yourself? What if next time you take just one more and you do fall asleep and never wake up.

I have to agree with everyone else on this one.

It's a horrible drug. It only works if you are already tired and TRYING to go to sleep.

But the whole Tiger Woods thing... ABSOLUTELY HAPPENS. I have no recollection of such things happening, but I would be told that I would be up at like 3 AM getting weird food out of the kitchen, sometimes leaving cartons of milk out. Sometimes my car would be parked in a different place, I'd have less money that I did the previous night and have a pack of a brand of cigarettes I don't even smoke, and the freaky sex thing... not going to give any details, but yeah, not cool.

I did a few experiments where I would try to take 30-40mgs and see what would happen in the morning if I was messing around with music when I took it. Nothing remarkable.

If you want something light that's just going to HELP you go to sleep if you are already TRYING to sleep would be Lunesta.

I recently stopped taking it, however. It just doesn't do anything. Neither do benzos. And even trazadone, which I would take when I was having manic episodes and not sleeping for 24 hours... that hardly even phases me anymore.

Honestly, if I can't sleep, Benadryl is by far the best thing to take if benzos aren't stopping my thoughts. Which they hardly do anymore.

Otherwise, you just have to do what you need to do to get on a schedule. You can't even make up exceptions for the weekends for a while. You need to work out at some point during the day. Caffeine honestly DOES make a difference. And try not to it 2 hours before you sleep. If you absolutely have to, dairy products. They're filling and the least likely to get your metabolism going. I used to fall asleep with the TV on. Now I just get so engrossed in what I'm watching it keeps me awake.

I've had chronic sleep issues for over 15 years now. It's not that I can't sleep 8 hours. It's that I'm just not a 9-5 person. Seriously, as soon as I correct one wrong thing in my life, two more go wrong. There are times when I feel like Christian Bale in The Machinest.

I can tell you what doesn't work and what I've been told, but I still haven't found the answers myself and I would love nothing more than to do so.
