A couple months back I went to my doctor and he asked me the normal questions and said from what I answered that I was really feeling depressed. I was kinda in denial but when he said I should try this medication called Paxil I said why not I'll give it a try. Well I was on it for a month and I actully did notice a slight change in my attitude/feelings/and state of mind. I have to admit I am sort of an alcoholic I binge drink about every night/every other night. Well my doc said I shouldnt drink at all with Paxil but being the dumb 19 year old I am, I continued my drinking habit. Well bout a month after I was prescribed Paxil I went back to the doc and he asked me the same questions again. This time many of my answers were for the better. He said thats excellent but he wants to make me 100% better. So he said there are three other Anti-Depressents he could prescribe me the first one he said would not be good for me because It would make me more tired and sleep more than I am now. I figured he was prob talking about Xanax and yep he was. The second he said would might be good for me (zoloft) but he said that the third one would be the one he recommended and would like me to try (Wellbutrin). I really would have liked the first one but I didnt want to push my luck with my new doctor :( I had heard about zoloft but didnt know much 'bout it. He was stronly pushing me towards wellbutrin so I agreed and he went off and got me some info on it, write a prescription and got me a sample. Too make a long story short, since I started taking Wellbutrin I have 1)Tried to slit my wrists 2)Went crazy on my friend, he said I didnt know who he was and told him I was gonna kill him with a screwdriver 3)Went crazy at a party and got the shit beat oughta me ending up in the ER. All these times I remember nothing the next day, Absulutely nothing. And to tell the truth I was drinking all three times. I have never, never done anything like this before when I drink. All my friends say I am the nicest drunk they know and have never gotten into a fight before while drinking.
I wrote a post few minutes ago about going to a frat party and my friend being the one who started the fight. Nope it was me, my friends said that I was a *completely* different person whilst drunk and this has only happened since taking Wellbutrin. After the 3rd of these Psycho Episodes I have finally got the clue that I need to stop drinking. At least while on Wellbutrin, it seems it turns me into a Jekyll and Hyde kinda thing. So Today is Monday at about 1:00am and I havnt drank since Friday night and plan on quiting for a long while. I know its going to be hard but Im sure I can fight through it. I am also going to look into getting a different anti-depressent to go with my paxil. Maybe if Im lucky I can score some xanax. I guess the moral of the story is be very very careful if you are taking Wellbutrin and drinking, in fact listen to what the doctor says and dont. You could end up killing yourself or worse someone else. Dont be dumb like me and get the shit beaten out of you and end up in the ER like I did because of a Stupid Drug named Wellbutrin.
Thanx for reading hope this helps

i used wellbutrin to quit smoking, and it made me a complete asshole. this is also true of two other people that I know that tried wellbutrin, both of them heavy drinkers. it helped me quit smoking, so it that sense i'm happy with it. i am not happy that it made me fly into a rage a couple of times with friends.
my advice:
1) get another med
2) don't drink so much
3) get some pepper spray for your next fight

Quit fucking drinking on Wellbutrin and you won't have that problem (possibly). Next time you see your doctor, tell him you'd like to try something that you *can* drink on if alcohol is such an important part of your life.
God only knows why it is. Go buy some fucking smack or something. This should be moved into health Q&A.
And come clean with at least your primary doctor that you're not scamming shit out of so that you can get better (assuming that's your goal).

I wouldn't blame these episodes on Wellbutrin but on alcohol. One's a medication, one is a recreational tool.

There have been massive horror stories on here about Wellbutrin, but since reluctantly starting it at the beginning of January, I'd say that it's doing for me all I need it to do. I've never been to a psychiatrist or any mental health care professional before and have never been on any medication before.
I don't know, it's a positive stimulus in some people's lives. But apparently not all. I just don't want anyone to be completely scared of it, if given the option.

I've been taking Wellbutrin for about 2 years now, (I'm 16) and its always worked out fine for me. I feel really good when I'm on it, and i have drank/rolled/smoked while on it and it never upset me. You didn't give any dosage information or what kind of wellbutrin you're taking. But if it is messing you up this bad, here's what can solve it:
Quit fucking drinking.

I am taking 2 Bupropion HCL 75mg tablets a day and as I said in my post I am going to try and stop drinking. I am whoever going to look at other Anti-D's just for peace of mind.

Simple enough solution, don't combine them with alcohol. That's your major problem man.

The number one contrdictated (sp) substance yer not supposed to mix with Wellbutrin is alcohol - look, I had some bad experiences comming off Wellbutrin but your problems are because you're combining it with the alcohol...
You have two choices -
1) Stop drinking (not likely since yer clearly an alcoholic)
2) Stop taking the Wellbutrin ..
It's your call...

EXACTLY...
I remember reading Phreex's post a while back and his battle with Wellbutrin, and he handled himself well + like a professional. If you keep drinking when you take it, you deserve what you get. No offense, it's just common sense.

Plenty of people have weird/psychotic reactions to antidepressants; it's not terribly uncommon. Especially when combined with other drugs (like alcohol). Please don't blame the wellbutrin, however -- maybe it would be working fine if you didn't drink. Maybe your paxil would be all you needed if you didnt drink. Hey, maybe you should STOP DRINKING!
