I have heard such great things about WELLBUTRIN from people. I heard that it is sure to work. I tried it 1 1/2 years ago at 90mg and it worked great for the first 3 days and then I started to get sort of anxious and have anxiety thoughts that only lasted for a few seconds but it was kinda annoying. Also, I thought it was thinning my hair out. I was hoping to use it to control my OCD thoughts and behavior.

2nd Time I thought to give it another shot, I think I was getting paranoid about the hair thing again, and it was giving me some scary thoughts when I was alone too. So I quit again. I was taking the brand name at 115 mg.

3rd time around...i really want to see if it will help my obsessive behavior that I don't like (kinda personal) but I am here in Spain and got wellbutrin bupropion 150mg. I want to try it again cause I just wanna see if it makes me feel better about my thoughts and anxiety and grumpy for no reason mood.
Worried about the scary-thoughts of murder and accidents happening that it tends to force into my head though....

With experienced users, did you experience similar weird anxiety in the beginning? Did it go away after a few weeks? I know it takes a month or so to really have its effect... what are your experiences? What dosage?

little info about myself:
I'm 5'3" /f/122 lbs and seem to grow a tolerance to amphetamines quickly...not that it may have anything to do with it.

I'm not experienced by any means, but I've been taking 150mg/day for about a month and recently went up to 300mg. It's working very well for me thus far, no paranoia or scary thoughts. I also am apparently immune to stims anymore. I think you should give it another shot! I'm actually feeling happy for the first time in a long time since I got off Methadone and all the other stuff. :)

thanks for the response!
I think I will try it again too. Also, I took adderall yesterday (i swear my last time ever taking that little crap) and haven't slept at all all night. Was considering taking wellbutrin this morning. Do you think that my 20 day usage of adderall effect the way wellbutrin will work for me now? I know adderall doesnt work like it used to anymore if at all. I'm concerned wellbutrin wont work since adderall doesnt work. I know they effect the brain in a similar way (cant think straight enough to try and explain it)

ALSO,
1 last question
in my past I've used a lotta drugs. Not all at once. But I have come to believe that I have some what of a seratonin deficiency. Trouble sleeping, staying asleep, mood, sensitivity to noise, trouble with overeating, I have a pretty poor diet sort of although working on it.
Will wellbutrin help rebuild my seratonin? If not, what can i take with wellbutrin to help with that?
Will Trytophan and wellbutrin together be useful?

Wellbutrin can cause some weird side-effects in some people. It causes both my wife and I to hear voices, mine were just mild auditory hallucinations, but my wife was having auditory delusions and it literally scared her into the psych ward for about a week until they got her onto some different meds. Both of these situations occurred at or just above the starting dose, its been years so I don't remember the exact amount. It also caused me some moderate paranoia.

Look, I'm willing to bet I've used a lot more drugs than you lol. Not trying to brag at ALL, quite the opposite actually. I thought my brain chemistry was fucked and all that too. The bottom line is I just had to stop using them altogether for a while. I did that, aside from the Wellbutrin I've been taking and Gabapentin rarely for anxiety. After having months off opiates (the hardest), stims, off benzos for over a year, etc etc. I feel pretty much normal. I don't have that "Oh, my brain must be totally fucked..." Now I realize that many people don't feel normal for a long time after years of drug use/abuse, maybe I can attribute my fast recovery to my youth (23/m). I don't know. But I think if you just attempted (keyword attempted) to quit all those damn stims, get some SLEEP, eat some FOOD, and if problems still persist, start on Wellbutrin, I think you'd feel a whole lot better. Unless these thoughts and such are a true medical condition, in which case you really need to just get back into the doctor and see if you can get some good help, rather than self-medicating with euphoric drugs every time you feel a bit off.

Good luck!

drewbocop - hm you're right. I do agree with you. I guess its just easy to get paranoid thinking about brain being messed up from drugs all the time. Its easy to look for quick fixes once you found them successful in the past. But you're right, its only temporary. :( Thanks for your advice

When the side effects of SSRI's became too much and the benefits weren't enough I was switchted to Wellbutrin and my psychiatrist warned me the side effects were occassional jitteryness, possible increased anxiety and insomnia so he Rx'd a benzo (Ativan) for me to take at night/ if the side effects manifested.

I found that Wellbutrin had some interesting effects. This was PRE amphetamine/stimulant abuse for me. I took it and at first I had endless energy, Hugely increased libido/assertiveness... however there were a few occassions I distinctly remember this drug seemed to cause the Manic me to surface...I was normally passive and avoided confrontation at all costs....but some guy I knew started acting all tough and "gangsta" and trying to intimidate me....and something that was in me but i never had let show suddenly took over. With a vicious grin, I calmly engaged the aggressor, and caught him off guard, broke a glass bottle of bawls on the hood of his car into a shank and held it up to him and basically he quickly apologized and the ppl around me stopped treating me like a human punching bag..

The thing about this is...I don't know if it was just something inside me...but in certain situations...I never felt out of control...however I did and said things...I was getting off on losing all the inhibitions and facades and I...really really enjoyed being aggressive, commanding, exciting, basically dominating things. Sexually I became a different person...no longer timid at all. Confrontation-wise....I never flinched...the only rage i felt was if something or someone tried to restrain me from acting. The mania was something I have had occur every so often, its not frequent, just memorable.

Otherwise - I'd recommend wellbutrin if you are getting off adderall. It is as good antidepressant and adhd drug, it has its drawbacks (metallic taste in mouth, headaches at times, insomnia) but if you are willing to manage yourself its benefits outweight the negatives.

Oh and btw, don't think just cuz what I said wellbutrin will do this to you. I'm currently in a mental health court program and have been told that while I already have been diagnosed with ADD, Depression, Anxiety (many forms) that they are all comorbid or perhaps part of some type of personality disorder. Psh. I think I just am honest with myself and logical...which can make me seem extremely deceitful and manipulative to others who have different agendas.

Best of luck dude. btw this may have more info on wellbutrin and OCD that might be helpful for you http://www.socialanxietysupport.com/forum/

EDIT : BTW When I first did Cocaine I was on wellbutrin, and let me tell ya, I honestly do think that Wellbutrin helped make the Coke last longer and feel less addictive, they synergized nicely. I used coke for a brief period while i was still on wellbutrin. I eventually graduated to teh big boy drugs and got on adderall.

I kinda hafta wonder what would happen if someone was on Wellbutrin as well as Deprenyl. Wonder if the MAOB would cause any euphoric or better effects with its DA reuptake while not agitating the NE reuptake and causing hypertensive crisis
