Welcome to bL. I went ahead and turned this into your own welcome thread for you. You should indeed be able to start new threads. Just click the button top left when viewing the main page of any of the forums. The only exceptions I believe are The Lounge & the blogs section. For those you do need to be a bluelighter.

Just let me know if you need any assistance with how the forum software functions. Also. Let us know some of your interests, I'd be happy to point you towards some of the forums here you might most enjoy.
