Hi. I have been on Wellbutrin now for about about 2 months. 200mg in 1 pill a day. I still cry and cry and cry.

But I also do take Xanax 3mg a day and Toperamax 25 mg a day.

I thought Wellbutrin is supposed to be for depression?

Its an upper, usually used to combat apathy in the morning, it works with antidepressants but isn't really one by itself.

I used to take it back in the day but it didn't do much for me. If you want an anti depressant ask your psych about sertraline (zoloft) or some shit.

It is an antideppresant. Give it a week or two barring side effects. It works a bit quicker than SSRIs but dont give up yet.

I just take the topermax wellbutrin and Xanax but will probably switch back to klonapon soon. Zoloft is a weight gainer I think. Thanks so much.

Usually when I go to the monthly doctor visits she asks me if I want her to up the dose of the Wellbutrin. Next time I will say yes. I was just afraid of hair loss. I read a lot of it can cause hair loss.

Oh LisaSue, I am sorry. I thought you said 2 days not 2 months. Perhaps an increase is due. I am not sure of the frequency of alopecia (hair loss). I will check it out and get back to you.

Welbutrin is usually best paired with another anti-depressant as it tends to augment the effects and sometimes helps the main med work better. As far as Zoloft being a weight gainer, most anti-depressants or ADs have this possibility. I take 60mg Prozac, 20gm Propranolol BID (twice a day), Xanax .5mg TID (three times a day) and 100mg Topamax BID for MDD, OCD, and anxiety disorder. I used to be on Welbutrin XL 150mg a day but I noticed it was making me too jittery and my sleep was unrestfull while on it so we stopped it. While I don't know your exact diagnosis it sounds like you could benefit from another AD along with the bupropion although this is my personal opinion and SHOULD NOT be taken as a professional or medical opinion. Do you smoke by chance? Sometimes docs will prescribe the Welbutrin to help with that along with it's anti-depressant effects, sort of the kill two birds with one stone approach.

Alopecia seems to be pretty rare, at least from clinical studies. The lowest frequency of side effects in the labeling is considered rare if it happens to 1/1000 patients. Hair loss is only mentioned as being observed, not even falling into this category. I wouldnt worry about it very much.

Why would I still be crying if I am taking 200 mg of Wellbutrin. When I go to her again I am going to ask her to up it.
