hey guys,
i've been away for a while, busy with work and all.
i'm usually on the mdma forum but now im starting to dabble with lucy and just wanted to see what weird feelings or sensations people get while tripping.

for me, i guess the best word i can think of is metallic (even then it does the feeling no justice)
my mouth feels odd and i sometimes get the urge to crack my neck or body (to no avail).
other times i just feel like i'm uncomfortable.
it's pretty weird, then again, so is acid.

this doesn't always happen to me, but yeah.
anyone else have weird shit like this?

(ps. sorry if this type of question has been asked, im new to the psychedelic forum)

If by metallic you mean taste, that can be dysgeusia.
Your mouth feeling odd can be distorted bodily sensation but also vasoconstriction (it can tighten parts of the body and/or make it feel that way), the discomfort can be psychosomatic or partially but general tension from peripheral stimulation / sympathomimetic effects.

These are just some suggestions, of course I can't be sure what kind of sensations you had and the correlations I mention are mostly conjecture at this point.

Yes, I think you summed it up quite nicely by the insight that acid is just weird. That may not explain anything but it does tell us to just expect goofy thoughts and feelings!

Welcome here and by the way greetings from Utrecht. : p

I always seem to get general tension around my shoulders and back and need to stretch can sometimes be quite annoying. Some say its down to unpure European acid but ive had clean acid before and still get this feeling usually these feelings come after around 5 hours or so.

I fear that you may have had a terribly abnormal reaction to this hallucinogenic drug. It could be caused by numerous factors, but I would suggest that you check the expiry date on your milk, as that may have added to the weird feelings that you experienced, especially if taken without a trip sitter within arms reach of the emergency panic button.
I'm sorry that I can't help you any further, but it may be a sign of irreversible brain thrombosis?

Sounds like normal LSD side effects to me.

Metallic taste is probably a memory of the fact that LSD itself can often taste somewhat metallic when you first take a blotter. LSD tightens muscles in the jaw and mouth making you more aware of that part of the body in general.

As for muscle stiffness and back cracking... that's normal as well although some batches of LSD will have this side effect more pronounced than others. It also depends how much and what kind of exercise you may or may not get during the duration of the experience.

I've had good experience combating the muscle tension that LSD and other psychedelics can cause using Soma (Carisoprodal). It doesn't seem to appreciably dull the trip, at least in doses of 350, but it definitely helps with muscle tension. At higher doses it dulls the trip a bit, but also significantly helps with anxiety (if that's a problem during that trip)

I've observed the metallic taste on many psychedelics (not just LSD, though LSD is very good at causing it), and I've never tasted a psychedelic that had a metallic flavor. Bitter? Yes (not LSD). Chemical-ish? Yes. Metallic? Absolutely not. But the metallic taste in the mouth is very widely reported on psychedelics, particularly LSD. I don't think we can write it off as a psychosomatic effect like that. Psychedelics cause perceptual changes, it seems perfectly natural that it could effect the sense of taste as well, and I suspect that's what's happening (and presumably, this metallic taste is the easiest taste-hallucination to produce, just like certain visual effects are much more common than others. You do occasionally see reports of things tasting different while tripping, which is consistent with this explanation as well).

One time the metallic taste in my mouth got so bad, smoking anything felt like I was growing new metallic teeth all through my mouth.

Point being, there are all sorts of odd things that one can experience on LSD.

As for physical discomfort I often find my legs cramp up if the lsd is not so clean. Another time with a particularly nasty (but strong) batch I had an itch all over my body but it was floating an inch above my skin so I couldn't actually scratch it. That was the worst!

hey solpipsis! nice to see a dutchie 'round here. utrecht is a lovely city.
im glad to see that im not alone with this whole "metallic" thing.
funny thing is that my 1st time doing acid it was dropped onto my tongue, so no blotter. it tasted like that: metallic. just plain weird.
that sensation is so damn weird, it has less to do with lock jaw and more to do with just total weirdness.

is dirty acid supposed to make you feel this weird or is it just common?
i have a feeling that it was maybe due to anxiety. i wasn't paranoid or worried i was just home alone and i guess i was uncomfortable with not knowing what to do.
i feel like if i was with someone else or a bit more comfy i wouldnt have had that.

does anyone notice that? worse physical feelings when alone? i feel like if im distracted it won't happen.
i'll find out with the next trip i guess :P

About the metallic taste, I've mentioned it before: 'dysgeusia' is probably it. This time I will provide you a wiki link and quotes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dysgeusia

[...]Dysgeusia ( /dɪsˈɡjuːziə/ dis-gew-zee-ə) is a distortion of the sense of taste. [...]
[...]The alterations in the sense of taste, usually a metallic taste, and sometimes smell are the only symptoms.[...]
[...]There are also a wide variety of drugs that can trigger dysgeusia, including H1-antihistamines, such as azelastine and emedastine.[26] Approximately 250 drugs affect taste. [...]

Considering LSD very promiscuously affects all kinds of different receptors it is not strange to think that it also affects taste receptors in some way. There are different ways it could do this and I haven't a clue which mechanism is likeliest.

Anxiety or body effects can seem different depending on the company you have or general setting, yes I believe that to be true. Self reflection is quite different and also what you pay attention to or are distracted by. On psychedelics, sensation become very amplified and the power of things in focus can push away other things. Becoming mentally preoccupied by things can dissociate you from bodily feelings. Being mentally relaxed and feeling like you can get go also relaxes the body and (probably more importantly) changes the way you perceive the body's signals.

LSD produces vasoconstriction and some peripheral stimulation which becomes worse as you go along (IME), which is consistent with someone mentioning it coming on after about 5 hours. That still depends on the person and the setting like I just mentioned, but I also still believe that some impurities could add to side-effects while not contributing to stronger psychedelic effects. In other words I am still not convinced that dirty acid could not make a difference in side-effect. I think it can.

My advice though: if you feel weird next time you trip, just try and feel comfortable with it assuming it is part of what LSD does. Because even if it is partially a result of the purity of your product, worrying about that won't help a thing and probably makes things worse (psychosomatic effects). I know that sometimes worrying will help prevent bad things happening but if your LSD is LSD and not DOX or 5-MeO-aMT or something like that, you will be fine and you will just help yourself either accepting the side-effects you get... or deciding that they are not worth doing it again (if it is really that bad).

I always used to try and figure this out in my younger days...

Some batches gave me metal mouth, bad vasoconstriction, and a chemical taste in my mouth upon waking the next morning...

And I figured it out: quality of the crystal.

Ive had BEAUTIFUL lsd that gave me none of the above. Perfectly tasteless, perfect trip, perfect feelings, ect. ect. And I know some others on here will agree with this statement. Better quality crystal= better quality trip. I wish all the cooks would take a little more time to make a better product...

Question for some of you that have had euro blotters (comes from the same source, many of you know what I'm talking about.) How's the quality of the crystal from that source?

Those feelings (metallic body, need to stretch) are 100% normal side effects of LSD, at least in my experience. If you're feeling uncomfortable while you trip, a little cannabis will probably fix that.

I just solo tripped and experienced the same thing. I've felt it before but not to such an extent. The tabs were sitting in my freezer for over 4 months, idk or care if that had anything to do with it. The feeling of being uncomfortable is also normal, if you'd rather skip that part of the trip then maybe this vid can help you out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsPtpKdS-vE. I was skeptical about taking too much, it was my first solo trip in at least 2 or 3 years so I gradually upped the dose. It was mellow enough for me at each increment, however the uncertainty arose and stuck with me throughout the trip. Once you get more experienced though that uncertainty (uncomfortableness) is easily cast aside, but if you start out with it, it can sometimes come back unannounced and you kind of have to work at it to throw it away (smoking a bowl, chanting, meditating, etc...).

Low doses of benzodiazepines can be of much assistance when it comes to getting rid of the unwanted physical (and mental) side effects. I recommend Valium/diazepam for it's long duration, to match the long duration of LSD, and it's potent muscle relaxant properties. Klonopin/clonazepam would be the runner up. It definitely has made my LSD trips a lot more comfortable and enjoyable.

Soma sounds like it would be helpful in a similar fashion. Another suggestion would be gabapentin or pregabalin. Marijuana might work for you as well, take your mind off those side effects and provide more euphoria or calmness, but cannabis could also intensify the experience- as we all are probably aware of -which could intensify uncomfortable feelings.
