I have been taking amphetamines for years for adhd. However I have been obese forever; since i was younger i have had an unending appetite. On stimulants they only curb hunger for so long. I am also on Mounjaro which helps a bit. Im wondering if stimulants are the best route for weight loss/appetite curbing. I do get moderate activity since im on my feet alot at work full time

I don't think they are. People get into meth and lose tons of weight, but the toll on their brain and life overall far outweighs that "benefit", to label it such. It's a fast way to hell. Stimulants will curb appetite for a short period of time, but then they wear off, and people tend to binge when they do. I guess they give lisdexamphetamine for binge-eating disorder, but that's not really the same as for obesity. Keeping on your feet is good. I try to do the same.

I know there is a prescription variant Desoxyn; im just scared to bring it up. I've been on Dextroamphetamine for over 14 years though. I definitely have some eating disorder; I love to eat till im full as it makes me feel satisfied. However while taking adhd meds I don't even feel any satisfaction from eating food since my thoughts become much more task oriented rather than just random and impulsive; i actually will eat a normal amount of food to prevent stomach upsets so i don't end up starving. Not sure if you have taken methamphetamine before but if you have, what would you expect to be different opposed to other amphetamines? I got confused before because i confused desoxyn with lisdexamfetamine which i have tried. But I don't ever remember taking desoxyn

I've just come off elvanse less than two months ago and one unexpected side effect of stopping the med is my sugar cravings have almost completely gone.

When I was on it I alternated between having no appetite when it was working and craving nothing but carbs as soon as it wore off which was further compounded by the loss of impulse control which went hand in hand with it wearing off, I'd barely eat during the day and just keep myself going with sugary snacks and then often find myself binge eating in the evening.

So, in my case I found stimulants pretty unhelpful for controlling my appetite because they have to wear off eventually and when they do you're left with a massive appetite and no impulse control to keep it in check.

Ketamine is now being used experimentally for weight loss. So, that's another option
Hard to imagine using ketamine as a weight loss tool not resulting in a habit, especially for somebody with ADHD.

Desoxyn is rarely prescribed, partly because doctors will get scrutinized for doing so, and it doesn't really best other stimulants in thereapuetic value in almost all cases. It also probably isn't covered by most insurances unless there's a very clear need for it, as opposed to dexamphetamine.

The crash of stimulants, coupled with an active day and not eating during it, can cause binge eating itself.

Never have taken it, never will. It lasts a long time, and for some it might seem more smooth at first. Lisdexamphetamine basically covers this...

Why not try Ozempic and do sports activities, regulating alongside your diet? Especially if living in the USA where this shit is so easy to get then it is in a country where I am.

Last year or to be precise end of November 2022 I found myself having around 135kg and I needed to do something as noticed that I was way too heavy...
My friend advised me to try Ozempic or Saxenda whatever is easier to get. Firstly in the middle of December, I started with Saxenda and alongside diet, and sports every day either walking under load or swimming after work, my weight started going down. But then I switched to Ozempic as Saxend gave me some shity side effects like stomach ache plus application was daily, I managed to get my hands on some Ozempic batch.

And in 2 months without any heavy food posting my weight came from 135 to 115 kg easily... My reason I stopped was I could get more of Ozempic and in the EU even prescribed by docs it was impossible to get Ozempic regularly at a hefty price + my guy didn't have that anymore. on stock.
