I currently take 50mg of Tramadol about 6 or 7 tablets throughout the day. I have a high tolerance as I used to use oxycodone 30mg multiple times a day. What is the best way to taper to eventually get off of this. I have been on this dosage for a couple months roughly. I used to take suboxone that was a nightmare to get off of.....seems like I took the subs to get off the oxycodone...and then the tramadol to get off the subs...wtf

I am currently tapering off myself, after about 4 weeks of daily use (about the same dose as you). I tried CT, but that just didn't go over, so I am doing a semi-rapid taper over a few days with the assistance of some Librium on top of the 3 mg Klonipin I already take daily. I am not far into the taper at all, but it is going smoothly so far. I was between 4 and 6 tablets a day mostly, and for the past week I came down to just 4 a day. Last night I first reduced my evening dose to 75 mg instead of 100 mg, and took 25 mg Librium. This morning, I took another 75 mg instead of the 100 mg with another Librium. I intend to take only 50 mg tonight, so I'll see how it goes.

I would first try to see the lowest dose of tramadol you need to get through the day. You may find that you only need a couple a day. Tramadol can be strange like that -- when I was on 1400mg a day, I would immediately go down to 100-150mg and taper from that point. Then take it from there, and as brighton suggested decreased by 50mg every few days...whenever you feel you can handle it...

Tramadol is one of my favourite opiates, at a dose of 200 mg I get that typical relax and warmly feeling where opiates are so famous for.

I really like it! =D

I get nothing. i would quit and expect little withdrawal from tramadol.
1400 my ass you would have a seizure. Post things that will help

How about you stop posting stuff that doesn't help? Just because you get nothing from tramadol doesn't mean jack shit. Many, many people do. Tramadol withdrawal is a real thing. It fucking sucks. And just so you know, plenty of people have taken very high doses and not had a seizure, just like plenty of people have taken less than 400mg and had one. Taking more tramadol will more or less progressively lower the seizure threshold. No dose guarantees a seizure.

Tramadol and it's metabolite, o-desmethyltramadol are opioids. Wd's from tramadol are certainly real, and can be akin to wd's from other opioids. 1400 mg daily is a dangerous dose, but certainly not unheard of or inherently seizure-provoking. Your response could be rather hurtful, and is frankly uninformed on the subject.

I'm going to be coming off O-dt soon (in the next week or so). My dose has needed to increased to around a total of 300 mg per day, purely to stop withdrawl symptoms. I now wake up with WDs. I am taking around 60 mg first thing in the morning, another 60 mg around midday, and then finishing off with about 180 mg late afternoon/early evening to get high. It has been about 1 month of continuous use.

I was wondering, is it "safe" to just stop this cold turkey ? I expect it will be pretty rough, but I'm just going to 'tough it out' if its not actually physically dangerous. I plan to use etizolam and pregabalin to hopefully help ease things, and stimulants to provide some energy.

I have no choice in the matter of quitting. My stock has almost run out, and i currently have no source of obtaining any more...

It is not physically dangerous to quit cold turkey when it comes to opioids. Very rarely opioid wd symptoms can be dangerous in a person who is already in poor condition. But usually, not at all.

you're right, I apologize. uncalled for and uninformed, as any amount of tramadol does nothing for me is not to belittle or ridicule those whom it does. Sorry for being a dick. WD's suck and I hope you are ok, mate.

Go very slow when quitting tramadol

I've been using doctor-prescribed tramadol HCL every day for the past two years. Until a few days ago.

I got almost exclusively good effects from the drug. No adverse effects except the biggie of reduced sexual sensation, and a little transient (and very tolerable) itching. In return, it gave me tremendous energy and a lovely, low-grade, very long-lasting euphoria. Overall, it was an amazing tool in my life. But I finally decided it was just time to quit, at least for a while.

I was taking about 200 mg/day, not a huge dose, but enough to reliably produce the "lifestyle" effects I valued, even after two solid years (although some of the euphoric edge was definitely wearing off). I cut this down by about 25 mg/day over a period of about one week. It was too fast. Toward the end I got terribly sick, horribly miserable, for about three days with opiate-withdrawal-type illness. One night I didn't sleep at all, not one wink.

I feel fine today. Almost completely normal. It's funny feeling my "old self" and doesn't feel nearly as bad as I'd feared.

Anyway, if I ever use tramadol again and ever quit again, I'll reduce the dosage by 1/4 tablet (12.5 mg) every week until I'm down to zero. In other words, very very slowly.
