Okay, so weed has always either been a fantastic drug for me or fucking hell. I've gone through long periods of smoking having all the usual blissful effects, then times when I've smoked and been in absolute hell - ruminating over depressing shit, films, music and everything seems retarded, can't make conversations, just awful. This seems to have happened the past few times but it was a long time ago and I've been a heroin addict since for quite a long time so never had much interest in weed. However, I have had weed get fantastic again when picking it up a long time after having depressing experiences. I'm diagnosed bipolar so that might have something to do with it, but I'm just wondering if anyone can relate, and if weed will ever be good for me again? At the moment I'm too afraid to try it because I remember the hell it put me in the last few times, but I also have lingering memories of how great it was before.

So can anyone relate to this? Either of weed sometimes being bliss and sometimes putting them in an absolute hellish state of mind? And also whether weed can be enjoyed as before after an opiate addiction. Help much much appreciated guys!

Yeah sometimes I have a great time getting really stoned and sometimes I'm an anxious wreck...I'm pretty sure thats common, actually. Weed can be unpredictable, based on the varying levels of cannabinoids in given strains and environmental factors. The majority of the time it's very nice, though, which is why I continue smoking.

Here's the thing though, I never get anxious or paranoid. It just sometimes puts me in a really dark and depressed mindset, not anxious at all, just hellishly, hellishly depressing. At other times it's been fantastic.

try smoking/vaping weed with higher cbd...

Some situation basically, heroin addict etc.

Basically you should probably smoke less. Generally I find if you only smoke a few times a month or so there are generally less negative effects.

I haven't smoked in probably 6-8 months. It's really just not a great recreational drug to do all the time.

I have no idea how often you smoke, but you will probably have less negative effects if you keep it to a "once in awhile" thing.

What negative experiences have you had whilst smoking weed if you don't mind me asking? Was weed ever enjoyable again after quitting hard opiates?

You need to take one or two puffs...or whatever you need to get elevated...not couch crashed. You should be smoking the right strain...and stay busy...go hiking...clean out your car w/music on...whatever...You get the gist. You need to be out of your self and have some good experience before you go into your self.

Idk if you want to get that deep w/it, but it's true what Marley said...“When you smoke the herb, it reveals you to yourself.”

Get out there and do something productive...and that is the self you'll be.

Also, as far as playing video games..FF...DESTINY..definitely yes...just for your situation get out first. It will give you a chance to get something done...and then relax. Gets out that energy.

Like quoted poster said..less is more. Don't make it a lifestyle...coming from a long-term smoker...been there...learned my lessons well.

Thanks for your advice, next time I try smoking I will take set and setting into account and only smoke a very small amount. It's a shame I can't seem to find anyone who relates exactly to my experiences - I can find loads of people who suffer from anxiety or feelings of impending doom but rarely do I find a succinct description of my negative experiences - an overwhelming depression, every concept seeming ridiculous and pointless, helpnlessness etc.
