Weed + biking

I love biking on the trails by my house. Nothing complicated and not too much change in terrain- pretty flat. I'll go for like an hour.

My question: I always smoke a little weed before I start- do you think this is bad for me? Does it do anything to you cardiovacularly or anything like that? Thanks.
 
if you like it and it makes riding more fun, i'd say there's nothing wrong with it. just try and stick to the more "lung friendly" ways of smoking (i.e. vape or a few hits of high quality bud instead of a blunt).

i'm a daily smoker and a distance runner, and i've found little/no difference between my performances stoned vs. not. the only warning i'd give you is to be careful in cold weather, as i've found that smoking prior to aerobic cold-weather activity can heighten the risk of bronchitis.
 
Well, the short answer is that it's not THAT bad. Burning plants tend to emit similar compounds regardless, excepting radioactive elements from industrial farming and whatever psychoactive agents they contain. Unless you are getting comically shitty weed, this should be far less smoke than what cigarette smokers ingest.

I don't like cannabis intoxication when doing heavy aerobic exercise, so I've found it quite enjoyable to instead eat a pot cookie right before the ride. That way, it kicks in, but not with ridiculous severity, near the end of the ride, when I'm doing the downhill.

The right dose, of a good strain, can increase my focus on and enjoyment of a physical activity.
 
Oh yes it is not that bad, and for me sometimes it's the only way I can get motivated to ride or run(sad I know). I notice that while high and working out I tend to sweat alot more for some reason.
 
Why is that sad?

I know I've yet to hear someone say: "It's sad that I want a cup of coffee in the morning to start my day."

oh yess..working out and smoking pot..used to do it alot..i would smoke some bowls and lift weights..i saw an increase inmuscle tissue very rapidly..probably because i would concentrate more and i would work out doing the lifting properly..also i used to play tennis and i would also smoke some bowls before and what do you know, i would actually beat my friends on the days i would smoke..it kind of sucked when i was coming down because i would start making more errors..
but i would also sweat more than usual..faster heartbeat..but it totally made the sport more fun
 
Thanks for the responses- pot in general helps with my focus and concentration. I can also go farther and faster after I smoke weed for some reason.
 
I had a problem with running when I was smoking daily. Made me feel like my breathing was restricted, didn't feel too great.

I started using a vaporizer and after using it for a few weeks, the difference in my lungs was amazing. Been running and using a vaporizer for more than 5 years now!


Everyone is different though. My friend smokes a LOT of weed and a half pack - 1.5 packs of cigs a day and he still goes on runs all the time. I don't know how he does it honestly, but whenever I run with him, his breathing may be a little heavy, but he always keeps up/can press on.
 
A Provigil and a few hits of kind before I head out, and usually a smoke stop around the middle of the ride is my usual regime. A few puffs when you really bonk helps get you home too;)
