I have the flu with a real bad sore throat etc. :p

What're people's experiences with smoking while sick? I figure if it's anti-inflammatory it should help?

Thanks

Someone else posted something similar, but with bronchitis instead of the flu. I believe the general consensus was it's not extremely good for you to smoke while sick.

Basically it's grim, the actual process of smoking (esp on bongs/pipes) really tests how much throat burn you can handle, then blowing the smoke out through a grim mucus filled chest. A few minutes coughing and then you'll be high for sure. But with a massive overtone of sickness to it.

Think hungry with a killer headache..

basically what i'm trying to say is, it ain't fun=. & when the weed wears off after you've been to sleep for the night. You notice the lowered immune system.

Smoking weed while you have the flu is a bad idea, I got the flu also, and before I left for school I had a nice hash session the on hot knives. Tore my fucking throat out but it was worth it :)

while cannabis may have anti-cancer protective properties, it definitely does lower your body's ability to fight off an infection. you need all the fluids you can get while sick, and smoking weed will dehydrate the crap out of you.

lay off the smoke until you're back to 100%. to speed up recovery, drink lots of fluids (and keep your electrolyte balance with gatorade or soup) and get tons of rest, like 16 hours a day.

I usually just keep smoking weed when I'm ill and sometimes its fine, other times its a bad idea. I figured out the main point for me is 'do I have a bad cough or do I not have a cough', if the illness comes with a severe cough, like the mexican flu I had half a year ago then smoking weed will make it worse; smoking a joint made my coughing taste like thin blood and my lungs hurt. More recently I had a troath infection that came with a high fever but no cough at all and smoking weed during that seemed to be fine; was better from that in 3 days as well completely (mexican flu also only lasted 4 days by the way, I eat a lot of vitamins every day and drink a lot of water, and my health is generally good except for how much I torture my poor sweet lungs).

Either way: If you're coughing (badly): Don't smoke; it'll make your coughing taste like blood, hurt and if your health isn't good you might even cause yourself pneunomia or something like that.

If you're not coughing and taking good care of yourself other wise you can always try and see how it makes you feel.

Im always smoke when im sick, i usually just stayed smoked out untill the cold passes. Just smoke smaller bowls and you'll be sweet.

i smoked with pneumonia knowing fully how fucking stupid it seemed and i think it lengthened the illness and symptoms, specifically regaining lung capacity. also after i smoked i wouldn't get a headache or feel nauseous but i'd feel way outta breath for a good half hour or more. overall probably not a great idea but definitely not something that's going to kill you either. i'd say smoking sick says something about how badly you want to recover.

If you really want to get high when you're sick with a flu just eat it in some food. Someone I think Rincewindrocks posted a recipe here in CD on how to make chicken soup with herb. I've never tried it or smoked or used any illegal drugs when I'm sick since it's the last thing I want to do.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I decided to do it anyway, but took some real small hits. Didn't have any problems and it distracted me from the illness for the night :D

I find that it cures the symptoms while your high but when I burn out I feel like shite !!

... Guess I just have to stay high then :P

The only time I smoke heavily; besides the occasional special occasion or concert; is when I'm sick. I feel markedly better all day if I smoke shortly after waking up.
