We Got Scared.

The evolution of man in relation to fear and then to curiosity. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. Watch it--It's worth the eight minutes. :)

From the video:"We need to stop believing that we have a divine purpose and that we will be rewarded when we die"

Learning to not be afraid--of mystery, of being alone, of dying, of our own unimportance--we can experience "heaven" anywhere anytime. That learning, though, it's a lifelong endeavor, eh?

it's an interesting video with a well-considered, well-presented message.

if this was the best video i'd ever seen, i should probably watch more videos :)

Interesting video. In the big picture perhaps we are not particularly important but within the world we live I do believe we can have a particular role to take on. Nothing to do with heaven or "God" up in the sky, just a reason why we are here. Or maybe not. The monkey vs. creation dichotomy offers only two explanations.

I liked it but I find the anti-religious aspects of these types of videos rather annoying. If we didn't have religious morals, I highly doubt we humans would be in a position to inquire about nature, we'd be too busy fighting each other. I also believe that without religion we wouldn't have science and I think religion actually makes scientists strive harder in searching for answers than without it.

its pretty bah imo
and we do have a media thread
not sure why it has not being merge since there is no context from the op to start a dialogue about whatever he tried to say by posting this

the video is about we got scared vs we got confident
and insinuate that fear was the driven factor behind religion and confidence was the driven factor behind science
which is pretty retarded, both have being driven by fear and confidence

one of the main thing we did with science is build weapon because we were scared to loose wars
we created medecine because we were scared of dying, scared of diseases
we went to the moon because the usa was scared to loose the moon race
internet came out out of the fear that we might have to survive a nuclear attack

fear is a essential part of what made us good at survival
atm we are scared that we wont have enough oil so we find new way to gather renewable energy
we are scared about virus and cancer so we keep making scientific progress
and so on...

More science worship? This video is shit and equal to religious fundamentalism, in fact it's the exact opposite and merely playing into the much maligned boring binary. :p

Yeah I do think "good" in the moral sense is just a construct. I do notice there is a different tone to whether I do what I think is right, what feels right, or what I sense through intuition. If I have some sort of sense that I'm supposed to do something then I can "know" I'm doing what is best for me at that time even if it seems irrational. I don't really trust following emotions in general because they seem to just be automatic reactions and beliefs also seem to just be thoughts that I've been programmed to think I could be wrong but so far in my experience intuition or whatever you want to call it has been been the most rewarding guide. But it's also easy to confuse it with something else.
