Someone please tell me there has been a mistake. How is it possible to discuss…. what is the title of this…. got it, the first word of the title of this forum has the word science in it.

That word requires a lot of respect. Now if this were a discussion of biblical mythology or if this forum was in the United Arab Emerate, I could entertain the idea of closed thinking or fear or superstition. Thank goodness we aren't on that forum. This one is Neuroscience and Pharmacology Discussion. Please pardon my disappointment at seeing those words in print, I am not a scientist or a chemist just a person who wants to know more. It is surely my ingnoance in these matters that propels me, are we concerned the
Donut Eaters Againsteverything might notice that a computer flagged a word, never fear they think software is girls undies and the very idea makes them antsy and uncomfortable.

The image I get of a discussion group where chemical and compound names are not allowed and who's title is neuroscience and pharmacholoy discussion….. well it makes me smile so that is a good thing.

So I'm imagining such a discussion and all I can see is all these snippets of the english language sentences interspersed with… with…... these other words…. they are all wearing burkas and veils...

I'm sorry, I know that among the moderators egos get pretty big on these kinds of forms. But it just struck me as an odd thing to say. So I thought I'd ask. WIth all due respect.

The name of the forum isn't Substance ID 101. Nowhere in neuroscience and pharmacology does figuring out what your unknown white powder may or may not be fit. As a result we don't allow speculative discussion about identifying things you've bought because at best, it's a lucky guess, and at worst someone gets hurt. (We also don't allow urgent medical questions for the same reason)

If you spent 5 minutes you could find the USP tests for phenylalanine online, melting points, solubility, the like. But we're not going to be arbiters of chemical purity, for a drug we can't see or inspect, over the internet.
