SO, I'm trying to kick the opiate demon that has been lurking around for many years. I'm ready to be done with this for the sake of my health, and to become the person I want to be for my family.
So my question is, anybody have any advice on natural ways to fight the tired, wore down feeling that comes along with it? This seems to be the most drawn out symptom that I have, and the biggest trigger for relapse in the past. I work night shift and usually work 60 to 80 hours a week so it makes it that much worse. Is there any vitamins or herbal remedies to help fight this feeling while trying to hold down a job? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi comingdown31, I'm not sure what stage you're in but multi-vitamins weren't enough for me, especially for the leg cramps. Try some B complex and magnesium supplements as well as fresh vegetables and fruits. Keep yourself well hydrated and don't underestimate the power of exercise. You probably get enough anyway working all those hours, that must be rough. Welcome to Bluelight!

Thanks. It has been about 3 days without anything at all, so I'm pretty early into it. I have kicked many times before cold turkey, including once from the methadone clinic. I was at 85mg a day when I stopped my daily dose. That, my friend, was pure hell. But I also didn't have a job quite this demanding either.
For the most part this time around, all the other symptoms don't seem as bad. I still get the restless legs and arms while trying to sleep, but It's really nothing compared to the drained and depressed feelings I deal with thru the night at work.

Healthy food and exercise will help more than anything. Go jogging or do some yoga either before or after work if possible - It may make you even more sore the first few days but after that you will be SO glad that you started doing it. A month ago it felt like it took major effort for me to even stand up out of a chair. Now I go to stand up and can literally feel the spring in my step, a jump up ready to run across the room if I had too. It will also help a ton with the mental aspect of things.

good luck man! I wish you the best, keep a positive attitude and stick with it!!

^like what case already said exercise eating healthy will get you there to succeed. You can do it!

Hey comingdown.. and welcome to Bluelight. The low energy is a tough thing to get past.. I used ritalin and cafine but these may have a negative effects in withdrawal as well and I had clonidine on board to help prevent these.

medications for acute opiate detox

The medications I would explore the use of for detox would be:
>Clonidine< DOSED EVER FOUR HOURS..

one of either
>NEURONTIN< >HERE< >HERE<
OR >Lyrica<
OR >phenibut<

>A BENZO BUT JUST AT NIGHT<
>a nsaid<
>melatonin<
tylenol

some good info in this thread.. http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/673580-Hey-I-thought-the-grey-matter-of-ADD-could-chew-on-this

As case said exercise is amazing for addiction but I would not start it till after the acutes are over cause it can cause a spike in the adrenials and these will likely be spiked already.
exercise and mood

You can do this!!

Thanks to everyone for the support and the advice. Starting to realize I came to the right place. I have tried neurontin and benzos in the past, but I work 12 hour shifts at night driving a forklift, so I have to keep a pretty clear head. I have tried adderal as well, which helps, but has a rough comedown in itself. That's why I was searching for a more natural method.
I started walking this morning when I got off work. I walked 2 miles and actually felt good afterward. I didn't push myself, just a slow walk, if only to get outside my own head a while.
Again, thanks for all the support! I know I have found where I need to be.

I have posted a link of our exercise thread OP and I am proud to say that I am one of the success stories from an unknown chemical that I ingested that was supposed to be mdma last 2012. I was in really terrible condition and exercise has helped me a ton. I hope you find the motivation to workout as I have and I promise you that you will see results in no time :)

Hi comingdown31, I struggled with very heavy opiate use myself for ten years. I have to say that these guys are spot on. Your job is going to help alot! Staying busy IMO is the most important. I can't say that I have found any herbal remedies or natural supplements that helped me. Melatonin is a great sleep aid however. mainly because it doesn't leave you with a groggy feeling when you wake up. I wish you the best of luck
