Ways to deplete serotonin levels to help serotonin receptor upgrading

Is there anything one can do that will help lower ones levels of serotonin, resulting in the upgrading of serotonin receptors, which would help bring back the magic of ecstasy.

I'm prescribed Vyvanse and I was wondering also if since it releases a lot of dopamine and not very much serotonin, that the dopamine would kill the serotonin due to it's higher number.

Please tell me what you think :)

Dopamine in excess will not "kill" excess serotonin.

The only way to lower serotonin levels that I am aware of is to abuse serotonin releasing agents like MDMA, but of course the release of serotonin activates and downregulates receptors, and that's what got us in this mess in the first place.

Some claim that cortisol leads to 5-HT receptor upregulation ,but I'm on my phone and can't really look for sources to confirm that at the moment. I wouldn't recommend taking cortisol anyway, as it can cause depression and a host of other problems.

Additionally, antagonists at a number of 5-HT sites actually cause further downregulation, so that's not a viable strategy.

The only thing I can think of is Reserpine, which abolishes vesicular neurotransmitter stores, but this would reduce all neurotransmitter levels, not just serotonin. Any comments on this?

I would say that time, supplementation with good nutrients, and exercise are the best course of action. Your body should eventually regain homeostasis. That said, the literature does show that some people who have heavily abused MDMA have decreased responses forever, perhaps due to some permanent structural changes.

A tryptophan hydroxylase inhibitor like AGN-2979 should deplete serotonin one would think. It apparently has anti-depressant activity too. Even a decarboxylase inhibitor should do it but not to sure how selective they are so it could end up dropping other monoamines too.

Anger.

Seriously, anger and rage are powerful forces for healing.

There is a belief among psychologists that depression is a defense mechanism that the brain uses against debilitating levels of anger.
A lot of good therapy has focused on forcing depressed people to confront their anger.

I have personally felt major transitions happen after a period of intense anger.
I recommend this 'rage therapy' to others in recovery from MDMA or SSRIs.

I am willing to bet that it causes such 'up-regulation' of receptor sites.
If you are feeling down, give it a try.

^^yeah anger increases stress hormones. one of which is cortisol.

cortisol has been proven to upregulate 5ht-receptors.

Snt John Wort has been proven to upregulate 5-ht receptors..

More specifically it's the hypericin in it.

Though i can't find any studies on it now :\

Read one of my recent posts and tell me your thoughts. You have a valid idea here and I think I know of a plan for you to make it work. Here's a link to the thread:

I know I am no neurologist and don't have an equipment to really test my hypothesis I swear I get happier and more lightly euphoric every day I stick to the regiment described in the post, until I decide to go for an all night bender (hehe) and have to start all over from square one. Why does that 75/25 methylone/4-mmc combo feel so damn good at 200mgs? It seriously take me three or four days after one of these to even feel close to getting the results from small dosages I expect and more if it is a multiple day bender.

Hope this provides an anecdotal account to back your idea up, experiment around with some low dosages and a good antidepressant and work with your circadian rhythm for about two weeks or more then drop your favorite dosage just once and see the difference it makes, wowza.

Peace and Much Love,
Pseudonemesis
