Wasn't entirely too sure where to put this(has to do with symphonies)

The Planets is great and so is Symphonie Fantastique.

What about Debussy? You could also listen to Ravel's Bolero, which was the base for a rather famous Jefferson Airplane song.

YES - great ideas too, I especially love Symphonie Fantastique.

Great article: The Psychedelic Adventures of a French Opium Eater
Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique

Lets see , this recording always seemed especially crisp and phonemenally intense and gripping and sharp performance, considered byt many the best ever, though since then there are probably others that top it:

see the user review By Timothy Mikolay which really captures what is so stunning about this terrifying recording.... especially the propulsive tempo.

And Debussy... just made for tripping to!

This Tomita cd ("snowflakes are dancing") electronic interpretation is of course a mindblowing classic of electronic performance with a unique interpretation that really seems to capture the heart of what Debussy had inmind... though at times a little silly, most of it is so toweringly majestic in its rich otherworldly sound it is beyong belief and will really put you out there while tripping. though I might recommend making yourself a version without the couple of just-too-goofy sounding tracks

Original cds are out of print and expensive, but you can find it for download at normal price.

I never compared original to remaster from Japan, so that might be an interresting comparison.

Damn this thread is great - psychedelic classical music! we could go on forever. no? this is wasting all my time but I just love it! sooo right up my alley! =D

I love Debussy's Images for Orchestra and the Nocturnes. They are colorful, with much texture and light. Also perfect for tripping.

Not actually symphonic, but listening to Debussy and Ravel's string quartets -- they only wrote one each, the latter being heavily influenced by the former -- back to back is frequently amazing for me with or without drugs. I would be hard-pressed to come up with a better example of music that is slightly dark and that tells a story without words. A music student friend of mine told me that Debussy was trying to capture obsessive thoughts spiralling out of control, and I think he did quite well with that.

Sibelius Symphony #7.

Truly awesome and psychedelic. Dark yet ending in one of the most moving and transcendental blazes of God-Light I have ever hear. Nothing tops this... both dark and light.... I think you will find it utterly perfect.

See here for a an exquisitely detailed description. It's NOT overblown... this is exactly what it always felt like to me. Make this near the peak of your trip. You will probably end up in tears... you will never be the same... don't listen to it till you are tripping... make tripping the first time you hear this. You will probably need to play it a few times again all the way thru again. Did I say you will NEVER BE THE SAME after hearing this tripping.

I swear I am not joking.

the music is good though. just an irresponsible idea to put in on top of dmt...

Oh, and thank you for the Linky... will have to get that!

And do let us know what you think of the Sibelius 7th, especially after to hear it on a trip... if you make make it back from the heart of the Galaxy, that is, haha! :D

Lol.... so I grabbed Sibelius 1-7th basically the night you mentioned it, and man, that is some good stuff there. It hasn't left my playlist.

I managed to hear some of it in the long hours of a comedown on Halloween, which was excellent. This weekend, I'm planning on listening to it tripping proper. :)

I first noticed the beauty of this kind of music and developed an appreciation and understanding of it with the aid of cannabis and psychedelics. Just sampled some of these and have to agree there are some good recommendations in this thread. I think I'll hold on to these and listen to them in full at the right time. ;)
